Why don't people like Reach?

So the amount of people who apparently have an issue with the Halo prequel is something that has been on my mind for some time. Let me start by saying nothing will ever come close to the origonal Halo CE for me, it was released when I was still in school (crucial to multiplayer because you still needed actual real life friends... that is until the origonal Live launched and 360 expanded the online gaming experience later on in my school years) and just has so many great memories attached to it (system link parties on the weekends, the start of RvB, first co-op game I had played, etc). While I also view Halo 2 and 3 as being better games I still thought Reach was a good game, it is not the best, but I really enjoyed it. It just bothers me because every time I try to talk about it I usually get "stop pretending it was good, it wasn't!" or something along those lines. And to make matters worse I have never been given a legitimate reason for why it was a bad game. Most of the time it's a complaint because they changed the multiplayer or changed the controls/mechanics and it doesn't feel like a Halo game. Now I might be missing something but which one of those takes away from the story or actual experience? Now sound off and tear me apart if you think I enjoyed a crappy game but give me a legitimate reason why it was bad, if you agree that it was a good game feel free to drop your kind words as well!
