Weapon dismantling
First off, how passionate is the community before the game has even launched, it's awesome. Second, I've seen little to no threads discussing how we are capable of breaking down weapons, how do you think it'll work and affect gameplay?
Customising new weapons with our older favourite weapon's parts will certainly make for something that feels personalised and unique.

1 ReplyWhen I was at the tower I went to the crucible quarter master and checked their inventory and went to the lvl 20 weapons and it showed that you needed glimmer and weapon parts to get the weapon.

Right now the mod system is as followed: 1. Pick up gun, check out upgrades..Ooo shinny upgrades 2. Equip gun, unlock minor upgrades and pay the glimmer required for minor upgrades. Possibly change stats to one that fits you better in the options given (ammo and slight modification) 3. Every once in a while hit a Major upgrade = Glimmer + Certain materials on higher level guns/armor 4. Find gun you like better and start bitching because you used all that glimmer and mats on something you no longer need. 5. Dismantle and start again

Dismantling weapons gives us a generic item called gun parts, this item is then in turn used to unlock upgrades on more high level guns. Nothing fancier then that.

Unfortunately there is no talk of a mod system like that. Weapon parts seem to simply be another form of currency for particular vendors
