I feel like this is something that should be talked about, but sadly I don't see it mentioned on any Destiny forums I visit. Since forge hasn't been announced by Bungie yet, I'm going to assume we won't be getting it. Hopefully we'll see something between now and release, but as the days go by my hope dies a little.
So why is this a problem? Forge in Destiny is a missed opportunity to kick this game up a notch and really set it apart from most console shooters. In Halo, people made just about anything you could imagine; forge art, awesome maps, unique maps with matching gametypes, racetracks, mazes, recreations of areas from other games and even TV shows. I feel like the inclusion of forge could have been a simple thing to extend this games life and "things to do" list.
When I get tired of PvP, I can go blow off some steam in the story or strikes. But when I felt like just dicking around and not shooting stuff at all, I turned to forge. And so many other people made forge their specific thing. I just cringe thinking of the missed opportunities. Imagine the Sparrow racetracks that could have been made. Even maps could be made and some of the better ones could be put into matchmaking by Bungie.
Like I said, I'm hoping Bungie pulls this out of their hat for the final release, but I'm worried since it hasn't even been hinted at. Building was fun in Halo and gave so many people something else to do. I will honestly feel like Destiny will be a tiny step down without forge.
