warlock melee

wtf is the range on the warlocks melee? I think added graphics would be cool. generally it takes two normal melees to kill an enemy. even with a warlocks melee ability: 1) the overload time after using it increases for your next melee 2) it doesn't so enough damage where you get killed by whoever else because it's taking longer for you to get your second melee hit in. long story short, warlocks lose most of the 1v1 melee battles even when using the melee ability. weak. (this is whenever we we're both at full health and smashing melee)

  • I virtually never lost a melee battle as a Warlock. I was able to double melee quicker than most, especially titans; And I usually just put a short auto rifle burst into people before finishing them off with a melee. People in the beta didn't seem to respond to the melee range in Destiny, and so I was constantly the quicker to get that final blow in. Also jumping/gliding around in CQC and still being able to land melee blows is invaluable.

  • As a huge fan of ShotLock the Warlocks melee is OP as hell the reach is just incredible and you essentially have 2 shotgun hits in rapid succession.

Yeah, the range of the Warlock Melee isn't very well conveyed, it took me a couple days to realize that actually things weren't laggy and my melees were really supposed to reach that far. We're not supposed to be massive melee'ers, but by the end of the Beta I had gotten into the swing of the timing I needed to finish someone off with a melee after weakening them with an Auto Rifle.

    • Is it just me or the warlocks melee seem to have a "vacuum effect" where it pulls in targets? It's not overly noticeable but if you're just a couple meters away, it seems like it pulls them in. I have found that you have to be mobile when in a 1v1 melee battle. Especially against Titans. If you just melee and just stand there, you're going to get smacked good. I have noticed in my short play time that you either damage with weapons to lower HPs and then strafe left or right with a melee finisher to win. Or if strictly in a melee battle, you need to be "dancing" (strafe left or right to throw off person's target tracking) to win the 1v1 battle. That's how I won most 1v1 melee battles. If standing still, I melee, they melee, I die. Remember Aim Assist is hella strong in this game, so you have to combat that too. Also you have a quick window to get a rapid double hit if you time it right. It kind of reminds me of the covenant blades of old in Halo 2 before they were changed.

      • Are you mad? Warlock melees are awesome once you figure out your effective range, also all melees from all classes do the same damage modifier. All regular melees are equivalent in damage to each other, all heavy melees are equivalent in damage, the difference being their effect.

      • I only play as warlock and i don't have any problems with the melee, if anything i think the warlocks melee is OP because of its range

      • the fact that it has range and a wider target range is in and of itself a benefit over other melees... and,, get some gear that increases melee speed

        • All the melee cooldowns are at 1 second for the abilities they have and each character does not melee faster then another unless they have something equipped that changes it. Kinda dumb to think that

          • Warlocks melee shouldn't be as strong as the other classes for a reason it has an innate passive the other classes can't get which reduces grenade cool down.

          • Titans are meant for head to head melee combat, hubters need to be more stealthy with their melees and warlocks use their melee as a suppressant or a finisher after weakening their opponent with gunfire.
