MY METHOD FOR FAIR TRADE

here is a type of trading i think would work. no not the kind of trading where you can just throw gear around all willy nilly, but a more strict trade mechanic that requires items of near equal value to be traded. so what i propose here is fair, and non game breaking trade system. lets say some one has an exoctic gun worth 5000 glimmer / 500 marks what ever the exchange rate works out to be and i want that gun. in order for the trade to go threw i would have to put up gear near equal to that amount. so for example, lets say i have a rare lvl 15 bazooka, and my friend has a rare lvl 14 machine gun. i dont want the bazooka and he does not want the machine gun so we would be able to trade those to each other. we would not be able to trade something for nothing, and would not be able to trade items with to large a gap between them. edit: people would not be able to just straight up trade glimmer or marks for items. thoughts?

To be fair, if you have so much time that you have to work, why are you concerned with getting loot in a videogame? That loot needs to be earned the good old fashioned way: playing the game. That's how it should stay. Maybe if it's white or green gear, it can be traded. But I have a bad feeling from playing MMOs that allowed trading, that it will be exploited.

    • I do like your proposed trading system compared to most, but I would still not like to see it in destiny. Becoming legend may take longer for you than others but It will be worth it. Just keep on that grind

    • I'm all for this. You'll find that 90% of the people that disagree with you will be players that when you look at their profiles a majority of their time was spent playing the crucible. Crucible players don't want anyone having an advantage over them ever that they didn't earn. This is why I've been saying the two game mode should be separated. A trade system would be fine in PVE. There are plenty of games out there that have them that work just fine. I see how having one that would effect PVP could cause issues for those that care about PVP.

      • Simple response bind on equip! Just like world of Warcraft pretty much some items (drop only) can be traded vender gear can't be traded also make glimmer more usable and interactive so it's the currency instead of one set of op gear

        • Your main reason for trading is time correct? Some people have a lot of time, some not enough. This game is supposed to be a 10 year game. If you can't find the "time" in 10 years to find the gear then it's the drop rate. Trading is pointless when any random bad guy can drop any random loot.

            • People without jobs should get this game free so it would be fair. This is your way of thinking. What the -blam!- is wrong with you. This looks like a trend to whine about not having enouh time to play because of jobs?? Quit your job. You don't deserve the same gear as some nolifer with 20 hours a day playtime. Ps. I got a job and a family.

              • There is no need for trading in this game. Good items are easy to come by playing both PvP and PvE. Not only that, your vault is accessed by all characters, so one can always save other items for their other Guardians. Besides, you are supposed to break down unneeded items for parts to use to upgrade better items. That's why there are no vendors to sell items to. Adding a trade or vendor system would discourage players from dismantling items to gain upgrade materials.

                • Thoughts? That is one small step away from pay-to-win, pay-to-progress DLC.. ...and I am an adult with a job and responsibilties away from the console. You're perfectly capable of getting that same machine gun IF you are willing to put in the time to get it. Either by killing monsters, or waiting for it to show up at the gunsmith or cryptarch. I'd rather just accept slower progress in this game---and have that progress still MEAN something---than have it watered down by, essentially, buying it.

                      • No. They have already said there will be no trading. This game is about making your own legend. Not about getting gear from someone else. Bungie wants every piece of rare gear to be attached to some kind of story on how you got it not just trading for it. If you dont have time to get it then try and arrange more time to play.

                        • did you ever plat diablo 3 when it came out whit AH (auction houses) where you cud sell you items? I did and i didnt play that much because i was trying to buy the items on AH instead i spent hours and hours in there just to get a bit of an upgrade. my friends did the same, a lot of ppl did it.
Q. Why is the auction house system being removed from Diablo III? The gold and real-money auction houses have provided a convenient and secure system for trading, but it's also become increasingly clear that despite the benefits they provide, they ultimately undermine Diablo’s core gameplay. A big part of Diablo is the thrill of battling demons and finding epic loot. While buying epic loot in the auction houses might be more convenient, it doesn't feel anywhere near as heroic as plowing through a pack of fearsome-looking monsters and having them drop that one awesome item that seems like it was made for your character.
why do ppl want to farm glimmer/gold/credit in a game to buy some epic loot it feels like a job same as working in irl 8 hours in a factory then come home do the same thing but just in a game woohoo. it seems that ppl in general are in a rush this days clear the content super fast and then wine when they dont have anything to do in game. in my advise is to take the loot that you get and be satisfied whit it, try it out ore dismantle it, but no trading.

                            • I would say IF bungie implements this (which they won't because they are very set on you earning your own gear) they should only allow a 1 for 1 trade. Meaning you couldn't trade more than one item. I mean, who is going to want like 5 level 7 helmets when you are level 11? If you tried dismantling your gear you would know that you get VERY little glimmer back. Meaning most unwanted gear is worth like 9 glimmer and maybe some materials. So IF bungie does it, it would only work in the way you described. I would say that maybe at the end of a strike or story mission or even a raid, where you see everyone in your fireteam and all the items they earned as well as the ones you earned it could give you the option of trading with someone else right there so that you all can earn something from the same boss, which would mean you still would have earned it because you beat the raid too. Even then, you would all have to be close to the same level.

                                  • Kids simply have more free time. I could only wish I was 5 years younger and back in high school with all the free time in the world. But now I got rent and a full time job. Luckily no kids yet lol so that means I only play games maybe 3-5 hours a day at night depending on what I cook for dinner or just how much time I relax in bed after shower. So let kids do what they want. I don't mind no trade since that opens up ways to exploit more stuff.

Unless you are playing the same class then gear could be traded but I think if you wanted to trade you need to have been within the same group when the item dropped that you want to trade.

                                        • So far the only kind of trading proposal I've been for has been something very similar to this. They proposed that trading can only be done between teammates for items that dropped while those players were on a team. In addition to this, only items could be traded. No glimmer. The part where this differs from your idea (besides the team thing) is that it doesn't necessarily have to be an 'even' trade. If a gun drops for someone that a teammate could have better use for, they are able to simply gift it. To assist in the trading, they also proposed that at the end of missions, strikes, or even with the return to orbit, all teammates item gains would be displayed on screen with the option to ask for a trade on that item. This is the part that I disagree with. I don't like the idea of somebody seeing my gear and annoying me with repeated trade requests. If there's an item I don't need, I'll ask of anybody wants it in voicechat. I expect my teammates to do the same with items they think I may need (I'm not expecting this to be done with every item, just the ones notable enough to be traded. Think green/blue in the lower levels with purples/higher for level 20+). This does of course open the chance for faster glimmer farming by giving all items to one person, but when looking at the glimmer per item dismantle rates, it hardly seems worth it. What do you folks think?

If you and you friends want to share an awesome machine gun or bet their primaries on a sparrow race, that increases the social aspect of the game. Instead of you and your friends getting more powerful along side each other, you get more powerful with each other. This is a social activity for a social game, so it would only make sense to implement. It's already balanced by the game because if it's above the person's abilities it'll be locked for them until they have the vanguard rank , or crucible rank or whatever required to use it.

I have a job, 3 kids and a wife. Only play when I can squeeze it in on a day off at night. I think having in game trading between players sounds great, but realistically is a bad idea. In many MMOs with trades there are people that maliciously take advantage of the system. For example: "Bots" or programmed AIs. The bots are usually used to stay in the vicinity of respawning enemies. They repeatedly kill these enemies automatically upon appearing to gain the XP or loot for the owner. Another type of bot will go around to known farming points on a map for the sole purpose of collecting materials. What's so bad about that you say? Well they use the currency they've attained to go and purchase weapons and trade it with gamers for real world cash. So player "A" will buy a legendary gear from a sell bot for $100. These bots ruin the game experience and the in game economy. Many people hate the pay to win systems in game and essentially that is what can potentially happen in the hands of the wrong people. Even if Bots are not used and real people start doing these things it usually does not end well. Said person promises a buyer a certain equipment for $50. The cash transfers over but the equipment does not. The kid that lost his $50 calls the police saying he was wronged. Who's the police going to arrest? John smith from planet Zulu? Edit: The real world cash I'm talking about is usually done out of game through a system like Pay Pal
