Left Handed Guardians or...
Why is it almost all FPS Heroes are Right Handed? What happened to the Lefties? Would be cool to see in Destiny an option to switch what hand you want to hold your gun, like in Resident Evil 6 you press the right thumb stick and boom left handed! :)

What if I told you that the characters are right handed because it puts the gun on the right side of the screen. Unless you're in Japan, your eyes are naturally trained to pick up information left to right. The gun blocks a lot of space, and the eyes searching for enemies has a more difficult time reading around it. The screen has an overall higher readability by showing the information that is easier for the viewer to take in first before making them search around an object. Searching around an object first slows down the entire cognative process. Even if the option was there, you'd find yourself worse off for doing it...

1 ReplyAs a right-handed person who would never use the feature, I agree with you. I've never understood why this isn't already a standard thing in FPS.

I'm left handed, but don't have any probs about it when playing games, though it would be nice to have a fully customisable controller for a variety of reasons I've spoken about elsewhere, especially since my sister's right arm is now paralysed, so she can't really play shooters anymore, or many other games, unless controller options allow her to map functions to the left

I agree, Maybe should include dexterity since left handed people have a more intelligience capacity than others.

If I had read this before playing the FREE game on Steam called Unturned, I would think you are insane. However, Unturned had a leftie option, and it works amazing! My only worry is that I will be so used to my radar being on the left, that I will not be able to swap over. It just adds another layer of personal connection with your characters. Even if all it did was change the left handed players HUD, and have NO EFFECT on what others see, it would be perfectly fine with me. [spoiler]Left Handers UNITE!![/spoiler]

I have always wanted that option as a left eye dominant person. The ability to do so would in my eyes prove to me, that those who made the game are covering a broad spectrum of people.
