So, there are these topics going around about the size of Old Russia and they have interesting videos linked to them.
One of the videos is called: Destiny Behind Closed Doors Demo - E3 2013
In that video the guy showcasing the demo looks into the far distance of the map (where you started the story in the beta) and says and I quote "So all of this is playable space. That we hope one day get to send you to. It's all real geometry and you could go there, we could go there right now......" This is what he says in the video at the 2:20 mark.
Does this confirm that Old Russia is far bigger than we thought? This would also explain and justify the lack of other destinations on earth. Or is this just false advertisement/big screw up by the guy playing the demo?
Here are links to videos that tell the same thing...

What do you think?

I only explored 36% of the cosmdome area I was shocked
-
Bungie lied to us. I hope they go under. Theyll regret this 1 day.

Okay, so me and a buddy have been theorizing about things and something occurred to me. Remember a week or two ago Bungie mentioned how the beta was only around 10% of the game? Now imagine if this 10% was like this all the way across the board. That would mean we've only played 10% of Crucible, fought 10% of the enemies, played 10% of the Strikes, visited only 10% of the Tower and saw only 10% of Old Russia. If that is true this game could be far, FAR more extensive than anyone realized. This game has the potential to expand infinitely, and knowing Bungie, they have a lot, a LOT more than they have shown.

It is not much bigger and and worse it is pretty much all the same. No variety for earth like the concept art.

You'll find out in a month and a bit.
-
It's false advertisement you Jump Off that cliff and die like any other.
-
I think this is a script carefully orchestrated by activision. It's definitely sends the hype train a lot higher. Unless the invisible walls go away and we get to use our ships in maps. I doubt it will ever happen.
-
There is more to old Russia then we have seen in the Beta, that's for sure. If we'll be able to go as far as they say... I don't think so. But hey, if they can prove me wrong I will cry tears of joy.

I believe that was the intent. However putting it to practice probably didn't work out so well. For one, in the beta they closed the door and you cannot go back to that point in the game. I am highly doubtful that they only did that for the beta. Second, they really didn't have randomly spawned enemies. The same enemies (for the most part) always spawned in the same area and did the same actions (i.e moved from point a to point b). Having all that real geometry means they would have to have preprogrammed all those enemies for those areas. Way to much development time would be spent on making that. So I am sure it was sacrificed.

If you actually explored you'd know there were quite a few areas that were blocked off because it was only a beta.
