So far I have been very much enjoying Destiny in its beta iteration, but I have several thoughts on how I think the final game could be improved. 1) add a minimap, or a map of some sort when you pull up your character management screen. As I explore I find it at times difficult to maintain good bearings or sense of direction, especially when moving through indoor areas that lead to different outdoor areas. Especially given that the maps will be even larger in the final game, I think having access to a map would be very helpful. In addition to that, I think it would add a very cool visual aspect to the game and better facilitate the idea of going out to explore and reclaim an abandoned world if you started with a blank map which you filled in by discovering new places. 2) melee kills are extremely satisfying, in both single player and PVP, but i think the experience could be even better if there were added kill animations. One of the coolest things from Halo Reach and Halo 4, I thought, was the stealth-kill melee animations it went into when you meleed an enemy from behind. Adding that, or something similar, to Destiny would be awesome I think. 3) expand the diversity of the enemies encountered in the game. I know it's just the beta, and none of us have seen the real thing yet, but the Fallen basically only have five types of enemies, not counting bosses. The Hive seems similar, and bumping up an enemy's level and changing its name doesn't actually make it into a different enemy. In the final game I hope to see more than a handful of different enemy types per faction. Some hostile wildlife, as in Borderlands, would also do a great deal towards creating a more exciting, dangerous, and diverse game environment. Maybe Bungie has already thought of this, maybe they've already got good reasons why not to do these things I've mentioned, but whatever. Thank you Bungie for your time and consideration, and for giving me the opportunity to participate in the beta test. Can't wait till September.
