PvP Strategy: For Scrubs, By A Scrub

This of course is being learned by yours truly as well. As being a longtime BF Vet, I've been getting melted in PvP because I'm been doing it wrong. I'm learning though, and these tips here will hopefully help some others who're having troubles as well. A big thank you to everyone who are contributing their own insights and advice toward helping struggling players "git gud". Not everyone can be KD whores. 1) Unlearn your tendencies. This isn't CoD. Nor Battlefield. Stop going in thinking that what you do on those games will work on this, and you'll find your success in firefights will be a little better. 2) Lone Wolves die young. Stick with your team. STICK. WITH. YOUR. TEAM. One more time for those who have eyesight problems...STICK WITH YOUR *BLEEPING* TEAM DAMMIT! 3) Use the right weapon for the map. Wider open maps like The Moon, you should use mid to long range weapons. Compact maps like Venus use short to mid range weapons with more impact. If you're going to stick to a single "favorite" weapon, learn where and when to use it to it's best effect. 3) S.A.C.- Strafing, Accuracy & Cover. Live it, learn it, love it. STRAFING- Always move laterally when engaged. Those footsteps are the difference between hits and misses. ACCURACY- Make your shots count as much as possible. Headshots are king, but there are no instakills from them in Destiny (except for Sniper rifles), so it's key to know your weapon's recoil and compensate accordingly. COVER- Corners, ledges, whatever. Your success in firefights increases when you put something in between you and your enemy. Use the terrain to your advantage! 4) Specials aren't just for show. If you get it, USE IT. 5) Grenades. Because grenades. 6) You're not Superman, the T-Rex or the Terminator. If you have a bad round, it's not that you suck. If you find yourself getting picked off, capped or blown away frequently, it's not that your opponents are better, YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. Each class has it's strengths and weaknesses. LEARN THEM. Each weapon has it's perks and limitations. LEARN THEM TOO. Did I miss anything? Do you have anything to add? Feel free fellow Guardians.

It's definitely a progression to learning bro....man I got wrecked in MP a lot...I had to unlearn Many things, and since crouch isn't on left stick my game plays changed a hell of a lot. I came from halo, and this sure feels nothing like halo to me outside a familiar reticle now and then. I agree with everything you said, it's all on point. But one major thing you gotta note is radar and crouching, I'm still mot 100% on if you're standing you show on radar or not...but to be on the safe side...You see that right corner slice slowly brighten red...crouch...and find cover where you can see the openings near you since you won't know where they will choose to come from. Patience saves lives, too Much patience handicaps your team. I'm still learning all this. One other thing, is sensitivity. I played with it on 3 because it was easier to aim. I quickly found out Its a bad option. Boost sensitivity to a higher than normal number and play explore and practice with it. First shot is a enormous advantage in Destiny especially if it was a head shot...so you want to make sure you can spin fast enough to the guy you noticed at the corner of the screen and hopefully pop a head shot before he gets his sights on you. Lastly, bait the enemy, don't run in. Let them come to you while you're in an advantageous position to fight. Only go in if you got team mates covering a few angles with you. Everyone all packed together can wind up killed by a vortex nade, or supers.
