I've done a few of these events, and generally (if they're champion) you need a least 4 people to even ensure their shields aren't constantly recharging. Even if you have a lot of people, he just makes a beeline for the exit once you start hurting him. So far the only one I've completed is one where we had multiple titans constantly punching him on and off. which I'm not sure this is the intended way to win.

I can sole every single public event except for kill targets. They give the same rewards as other public events but are much harder.
-
Seems hit and miss. Sometimes I clean his clock, most of the time he escapes.

Edited by Eagle 1 10: 10/30/2014 5:19:32 AMI've managed to do a couple on my own. But a number of times I have done a large amount of damage to the enemy on checkpoint 1 out of 5 or something similar and then they will just warp halfway across the area it will jump up to checkpoint 4 of 5 or something and they'll get away. I haven't even been able to catch up to them on my ghost a few times! It's ridiculous! One managed to pop up when I was doing the capture the spire mission on mars (for heroic daily) I was in the interceptor railing him with the rockets and got him down to 1/3 health when he just vanished and appeared a good distance away, I managed to catch up to him and shot him a few more times and then he vanished again appearing AT THE FINAL CHECKPOINT so I got bronze :/ I wouldn't mind if he had ran away but to just vanish like that.... He was a Cabal Centurion not a vex capable of warping and he didn't even use his jetpack, he just vanished.... This has also happened on Earth with a Hive Knight, Mars again with a Psion among other times that I cant specifically remember.

I've killed plenty by myself. You just have to press them and keep them pressed. It might take you the majority of the checkpoints but if you do it right you should succeed.
-
Might be just me, but these events (along with most of the game) got a whole lot easier once I got weapons over 242. Or maybe I'm just playing better after lots of grinding.
-
They run way too fast and too soon. You literally need a sparrow to keep up. You have to stagger lock which is just bs.
-
The main reason I dislike this type is that they have a timer for zero reason. If you don't touch them they will finish before time runs out. If you hurt them they run and will finish before time runs out. Why bother with the timer if it never comes into play?
-
Too many a time has an enemy been close to death... The suddenly -blam!-ing turns tail running through ALL checkpoints like it's racing Usain Bolt.. and disappears.
-
Troll them, punch them to keep them staying still, use high impact weapons, and pay attention to their shield color and use the appropriate weapon type
-
I have done a number of these and won almost all of them. I don't think the event is the problem here.
-
I have solo'ed two of these and did about three with 1 friend or more. They're not that hard.
-
They're basically impossible if the enemy has shields
-
The servitor ones you can solo. Only managed it a couples times because occasionally it just warps to the end in the blink of an eye.
-
I've completed several of these. Last night was on the Moon. Me an one other Guardian took him down, but he almost made it to extraction at that semi-circular amphitheatre near the Hellmouth. It was tough though. The most difficult part was keeing his shields from regenerating. We figured it out that if we each took turns hitting him with a grenade, then unloading our HMG;s at point blank range, we would wear hhim down relatively quickly. So we switched in and out like a tag team match. lol At the end, two simultaneous supers, one from Voidwalker (me) and Bladedancer (him) and he went down with style. :D
-
The only one I've managed to complete was a Psion on Mars, the only other one I've attempted was taking down a Cabal Centurion and that was impossible
-
The runners are undoubtedly the hardest events, especially with how quickly the shields restore. That being said, I've never come across one that can't be beaten by 2 players in the mids 20s or higher. They aren't that bad.
-
Beat one of them solo last night, stop being a crybaby.
-
If you're a Titan, put up a shield and constantly punch him, like you guys did. If you're a hunter, arc blade the crap out of them, then spam them with sticky grenades and a machine gun to keep them flinching. If you are a warlock, sticky grenades and RPGs are your best hope. If they take off running, better chase them down on a sparrow and cut them off, so you can snipe them as they run to you.
-
Good.. If the game gets any easier it will start putting a bib on me and spoon feed me.. Maybe even wipe my bum for me... :-/ It's a public event, for a group of players, some of them can be done with 2 and others need more than that.
-
Fusion rifle to take the shield down then make sure you hit crits. Don't let him go to long without putting some damage on him and his shield won't come back. You will be soloing these guys then.
-
Not impossible but the difficulty on them is way too bleeping high. I've done several and they tended to complete around the 2.5 minute mark when the enemy just ran and kept running to its zone-out.
-
Using AoE grenades can cause the boss to stop moving in the direction of their goal. That's what I used for one on Earth. The easiest one I've come across is the servitor on the Moon near the entrance to the Temple of Crota area. The servitor doesn't have any shields which is nice, just a crazy amount of health.
-
lolololol I guess it's time to get good. Kthx, gg.
-
I can solo those.
-
I've been able to defeat the Mars one a couple of times, but the lvl 8 Earth one? No way. Seriously I'm lvl 26 and I can't defeat the lvl 8 event target with my team mate(lvl 27). Wth Destiny!

You need to abuse heavy weapons, ive taken down a bunch by myself. Shotgun at point blank or fusion, rockets, grenades, super, use it all!!
