Kill/Death apparently means something around here

EDIT: my point is being missed. I didn't ask if a high ratio makes me a good player, I asked why, when I give an opinion about the game, a typical answer is "your kd sucks stfu you're stupid and don't matter". Pretty sure Bungie would like opinions from everyone, not just good players. Then they know how to reach a wider market. Is that not logical? Mine sucks. Putting that out there to save everyone the time of looking up my profile, seeing it blows and posting it. That said, apparently a high kill/death ratio means your opinions are worth more than mine because "you suck, get good n00b lulz". So, someone explain to me when not being good at this game meant my opinion about the game doesn't matter. This should be good.

  • You have the idiots that live and die by their KDR, everyone that has one below them is a loser. You just need to ignore those people and enjoy the game. Luckily you can ignore people on these forums and never see their worthless posts again.

  • I think their issue is that you likely just need to try different tactics, and they see you as ignoring that you need to make a change or learn something new and are blaming the game instead. I'm no elite player, but I'm paying attention and improving what I'm doing. Also, do you play with a team or randoms? Multiplayer is made for you to ideally know and be communicating with your team, how unbalanced is the game when your fire team is people you know who play PvP? I find the Crucible challenging, not imbalanced - and I like a challenge, otherwise I'd go play whack a mole at an arcade. Plenty to do besides crucible, for those that claim it's "unbalanced".

  • My problem with the tracking is you get stuck in a 4 vs 6 match and it destroys your k/d , I'm sure the full game will be better about matchmaking but I kinda do care about my k/d and it sucks when one game I'm just getting slaughtered cause I'm so outnumbered , I was In a match last night where every1 but me quit, 1 vs 6 , so the 6 guys just roamed around killing me for 10 mins to pad there k/d, keep in mind I knew I had no chance and I'm not a quitter so rode around on my sparrow, and they kept shooting at no time did I fight back , great job guys u killed one guy over and over

      • K/D matters in every game when it's infested with people who think they are superior because they can farm for hours to get good loot or level up enough to get the best items. I assure you, K/D doesn't mean anything. I die more than I get kills, but that's because my ass is capturing objectives to help my team win.

        • I don't check stats so idc. I'm sure with my usual matches I am above a 1.0 which is in it's right a good KD. There's 2 types of people in competitive gaming, objective players and the slayers. Knowing your role is the first battle.

It's just a game. A hobby. K/D doesn't mean a thing. As long as you're having fun, then you're playing the game right. A high K/D doesn't pay the bills (unless you play professionally). For most people gaming is a hobby and hobbies are for fun. If you treat hobbies as more than just hobbies, then they become work. Don't let people make you feel bad for playing a video game. If you're enjoying the game, that's all that matters. Now if you want some practical in-game advice, hold two out of the three flags and defend one of them. You'll rack up kills just defending a flag.

        • Because often someone who reads or hears something that disagrees with their opinions will look for the easy route to invalidate another persons opinion rather than try to discuss and debate. Generally I put it down to people being so insecure and self concious that they take any disagreement as personal attack and lash out at the other person. I'd like to say people grow out of it but unfortunately we don't (I say we as I believe everyone does this to one degree or another, the internet just brings it out worse in some people). In PvP that means "proving" (which I use loosely) you're a bad player via low K/D ratio and thus can be ignored.

        • k/d is a useless stat in any FPS type game. Unless ur playing team death match of some kind... As this is an objective base pvp i would rather see objective points taken per game than kills per game just my 2 cents

        • KD ratio arguments are placeholders for lack of any real knowledge to drop used by people who havent mentally developed over the age of 8 and have yet to learn to debate coherently.

        • Honestly, I could care less about my K/D in these Capture matches. I'm an objective player and I usually lead my team in that category. Is my K/D miserable? Hell yes it is. But if focusing on capturing more than killing the other team, in this game mode, makes me an "awful player who should never play again, K/D FTW DERP" then so be it.

        • In the forum? unless we are specifically talking about crucible strategy, ones K/D ratio is completely irrelevant anyway and so why would any one take the time to look someones up. Even in a crucible conversation there are plenty of people that know the strategy but fall into a do as I say not as I do category.

        • My k/d isn't the greatest, but I get the "objectively correct" badge near every game. It's when you have the most, or tied with the most point captures and in the current game mode we have, I think it's important

        • Actually I think point count more then k/d. But then my k/d is around .8 so what do I know. Still, point totals are what the game ranks you by, and that seems to reward players who play to the objective as well as get kills. Personally, I don't care if people think i'm bad at PvP. I still love it either way and I will shoot you in the face with a smile on mine.

        • K/DA is the stat you should be looking at for individual players skill. The PARAMOUNT is Win/Loss ratio though. The strenght of the Pack is far superior to that of a Lone Wolf, and W/L reflects this teamwork.

        • Personally, I play games to have fun. Not just to bump up a stat for bragging rights. I am aware that's fun for some people though. But seriously, if you're playing a game that you've paid for, then your opinion is of equal importance whether you have a K/D of 100 or -100.

Some one called me out that I suck in PvE, saying that I am a scrub cuz of my KDA. This is a BETA remember ? To find those sweet spots on strikes u will die. And my KDA must be under 200 in the tower ... oh god!

Don't pay anyone any mind when it comes to stats in a video game. None of it matters in the game and you're sure as hell not putting down on a job application how high or low your k/d is in Destiny.

          • Well right now I've got a 3.45 ratio which I'm sure will change with time. I don't consider it an important factor in determining a player's skill level because everyone has good and bad games. Even with my ratio I got a terrible 0.23 in iron banner once.
