Fallen & Hive behavior

I read a post from another player and they mentioned how the Fallen don't really use the walls and ceilings like they should during combat. When they fight the Hive both factions have the exact same behavior and strategies. It is a ton of fun fighting both sides but I wish they changed the behavior so the two would actually look different when fighting them. I agree I think the Fallen should naturally climb up walls and fire at you like those bugs did in Halo! That would be challenging to avoid and make them seem more like a different alien race then just a reskinned Hive. Thoughts?

  • Agreed, for the most part. I feel that the fallen should be different, but the Hive seem okay as they are. They have rush Zerg units, big gunners, and staff wielding brutes. They have witches that float around and use magic. Very different from the fallen. However, the fallen amongst themselves are to similar. It's basically just grunts, somewhat stronger units, and captains. The only variations are orbs, invisible dudes, and the flying androids. Looking at a Fallen, I think that they should be, I don't know, more ninja like. I feel that either the grunts or the medium class fallen should be special in some way, such as climbing walls. But otherwise, if you pay attention to detail, the races are different amongst each other and themselves.

    • That would be neat. Different factions with different fighting styles... One could set traps and ambushes. One could get into the vertical style combat. Another could use guerilla warfare. I think I like this idea!

    • Takes me back to RAGE when I emptied an entire shotgun clip at a mutant in a hallway didn't even hit him... that would make fighting the Hive SO MUCH MORE terrifying.

    • I think its fair to point out at the back part of Russia, past the boats, there is a group of oneshot enemies that are indestructable. They are clearly guarding something for the final version.

Thoughts?[/quote] I wouldnt be too worried, they're bound to work on AI behavior before the release anyways. I do hope they take these suggestions though! Versatile enemies always make things fun.

      • The enemy AI is retardedly bad. They all just act individually instead of as a group, and often times make sense-defying decisions like coming out in the open and just standing perfectly still waiting for you to shoot them.

      • At E3 2013 when they anounce Destiny. I notice some Vargrant jump to you from the ceiling or wall to attack you, that was cool! and now it's meh

      • By Fallen are you confusing the Hive? I think the Hive should climb up walls and the Fallen should shoot plasma bolts from staffs... It's a Pfhor reference.

      • Enemies Climbing walls and structures would be excellent. The AI already has too many repetitive movements. I can anticipate almost every character and get heads shots or melees often. Changing it up even more so would make the adventuring much more enjoyable. :)

      • Id just like to point out that the enemies need to use cover more effectively... i watched a fallen hide behind a lightpole... obviously this did little to stop me from picking him off with my sniper...

        • and those respawn points, exact same place, in same numbers..... why not create far more spawn points, I mean they just appear out of tiny dead end caves in masses

        • Fallen should be climbing up the side of walls and shooting at us, they do have the ability. Although, with the gravity on our planet versus where they are from could be a good excuse, but on the flip side...don't call their pwnge walker the "Spider" after a bug that can climb walls....if it can't climb walls. The hive use darkness to shield themselves, and The Fallen use their technology as a scavenger warrior race. The Fallen's bullets can partially trace you around, where the Hive's bullets are more direct, faster, but hit for about the same. They can fire faster. When you actually observe their "mannerisms" you will notice these small things. There is probably another race of Fallen we have not seen that can fly or climb, same for The Hive and future enemies.

            • I'm assuming we are very very far into the beginning. I think right now in the areas we have access to they are fine. Make it easy for new guardians to get a feel for the battlefield. I do hope later on the Hive and Fallen become very. tactical and add a really nice challenge by doing behaviors we aren't prepared for. If they all have the same A.I. I'll be disappointed.

              • What I do not like is you are fighting the fallen or the hive. And you can in the middle if a firefight. Walk behind them and kill them when they move to cover.
