Apologies if this is something that has been answered in an FAQ I have not seen,but I have not been able to find anything about it.
Have some narrative elements been cut from the beta? The game starts out REALLY great with the first cutscenes and interaction with your ghost, but as soon as you reach the tower everything falls flat
You show up up and every npc just starts handing you free stuff and fixes your ship with no explanation as to why. You just kind if show up and float from one forgettable npc to another who spout phrases that have nothing to do with why you are there.
Is this an attempt to keep spoilers to a minimum throughout the beta or is this a side effect of the MMO aspects of the game?

It's pretty clear that there should be a cutscene introducing the Vanguards as something other than standing market stalls and other things, my guess is they involve parts of the tower we can't get to yet (somewhere for an Osiris and Seven Seraphs representative to go for starters), hinted at by the greyed out but clearly designed areas on the tower map.
