The Hunter's Super ability and Grenade are underpowered compared to the other classes

First its super animation leaves you vulnerable and you don't have that issue with the other two guardian classes. It also only gives you three shots, where combined they may do more damage to any one target. However the other two are area of effect supers and the Hunter's is not so the other Supers can (and I usually do) do more damage and take out 4-6 enemies. I like that I can Nova Bomb the two lvl 9 Knights in the Devil's Layer mission and take both out no problem. However I can only golden gun one at a time and I am screwed if I miss my target. I also cannot take out the acolytes that are with them like I can with the Nova Bomb. I think it best if you are going to keep the animation is to allow us to keep the gun until we swap it out or fire all three rounds. Also, I believe it should be 4 to 6 rounds. As for the Hunter's grenade, the blast area and damage should be increased. Same with the area of effect of the 2nd version of the grenade so that the cluster of bomb-lets don't have to wait until an enemy almost walks into them before chasing them and exploding. On a side note, I like its throwing knife which is the most powerful of the three guardians secondary power.

    I've noticed that there is later on the option to have the golden gun "penetrate" multiple targets. This could be the factor that evens it all out

    • That golden gun is def not underpowered. It is the most op ability in the game. They can snipe with it and take vehicles out in one hit from a far. Also it seems like they get a defense boost when in the super ability. Because they just eat bullets and don't die.

      • I'm on the fence about the super. I dislike how it isn't AOE like the others, but I like the damage it gives. The animation does leave me pretty vulnerable, but then again, I've learned to use it before I see the player. The grenade is definitely underpowered though. I love how far I can chuck it, but its AOE is poor. I can only damage enemies, not kill them. It is fire damage, so I should be able to spread it with more damage.

      • Grenades for sure. They are horrible. I can see the argument that hunters special is a different mechanic. But... I've only seen a Titan get interrupted about once, they seem invulnerable for a second during. Warlock too and if the off chance they are killed as long as it didn't hit the ground they get it back. Hunters get shut down way more often and don't get it back even if killed during the first instant of activation. That's my issue. I think their killing powers are as close to balanced as possible. Different issues.

      • Hunters are good if you know how to use them. The game also hasn't even shown what the other abilities are so dont complain about how the hunter is underpowered. Plus the hunter get a bad ass cape.

        • I had/have the same complaint about the Hunter's super and grenade but after reading through some of the comments here I can somewhat agree with the super being fine as is. What I will say is that the Warlock and Titan's supers need some adjustments to balance them out. Yes, the Hunter's golden gun is a one shot kill but it requires accuracy. The other 2 require no accuracy whatsoever and can kill multiple enemies in a large radius. Also, I haven't played as Titan yet but I can't really buy into anyone saying the charge time is just as long as a Hunter. I've lost count how many times I've had an enemy turn the corner and instantly wack me with that smash super and I'm dead before I can even react. It's become the "Call of Duty Panic Knife" - that's the best analogy I can think of. The Hunter grenade is so weak it's not even funny. It's pretty pointless for it to seek nearby enemies because the damage is so low. I've never gotten a kill on an enemy with full or near full health with a directly hit with that grenade. If a throwing knife can be a one hit kill in the right spot I don't know why on Earth (no pun intended) a direct grenade hit doesn't equate to a kill.

Shut the F*** up, nobody cares about your whiny PvE, the Hunters are ridiculously OP in PvP, 3 shots 3 kills, it doesn't take any modicum of skill for them to walk onto a flag and eliminate half the team, we coulnd't care [u]less[/u] that your ememy bots are too hard for your, PvE is too easy as it is.

        • in pvp all the super abilities are over powered...you can one shot the entire team with all 3 of them...in pve it isn't so bad, but if anything I would say all 3 supers need some balance, at least for pvp.

        • You also need to take into account how those powers and abilities will develop as you level up beyond the level cap in the full game. Just look at some of the Hunter 's Bladedancer abilities and you'll know what I mean. Fast forward to Destiny 2 and 3, all our characters will be so badass that PVP will become like a Jedi vs Sith battle.

        • First of all you have you played the other classes? All supers take time to activate, the warlock ability actually takes the longest and you hover to do it. The titan has to leap at you and well if you are a fair distance away this will leave you exposed and the hunter while yes it takes a sec can be used at the longest range, you can turn it on behind a wall pop out and insta kill 3 guardians of your choice. It's not under powered by any stretch of the imagination. Plus you can throw knives, you can one hit kill almost any unshielded enemy with a head shot. I think all the powers are well balanced and give you the option to play different ways. If the hunter super is not working for you perhaps another class will.

          • 1. All the supers leave you exposed. You can pop a warlock mid air before he's uses his special. The Titan can also be killed en route. 2. The warlock trades speed and armor for powerful grenade and super. It seems a lot of people want the grenades to be equal as well as the supers. So what makes being a warlock different in terms of playstyle? Hunter - speed and tactical Titan - tank Warlock - glass cannon

            • In some RPG’s they have starter classes and advanced classes Titan and Warlock are starter classes figuratively and Hunter is an advanced class you need more skill to use them properly. If you don’t look at this way than the other classes are overpowered. My fix would be to add area of effect to the golden gun.

              • You can one shot people at range with yours where everyone else has to be very close. Partner that with a sniper rifle and you one shot everyone at all times. Nearly every match of crucible I play has a hunter with top score on both teams who do that same thing. Grenades are weaker because you can use them more frequently. I can't believe people are complaining about class balance already. Learn to play to your classes advantages.

              • Quick note, slightly off-topic but relevant to Hunters - The Hunter Double Jump. Has anyone else noticed that the Hunter's Double-Jump isn't half as good as the Titan Lift and the Warlock Glide, either in PvP or PvE? In Devil's Lair, trying to get on top of the first building as the Devil Walker drops at the beginning of the encounter you have to use the crate to the right to reach the roof to start sniping enemy snipers, while the Warlock and Titan just bound up there and then go halfway across the map with a second jump. While in PvP, Warlocks and Titans float around the maps raining fire down on unsuspecting enemies coming around the corner while the Hunter is forced to take their time and carefully jump form one piece of terrain to the other in order to gain height and you have no range with the double-jump either.

                  • See I'd say that the GG single shots are fine as is. I see it as a class separation and play style differentiation: AoE or SSDPS

                  • I'm glad I've found someone else who appreciates the throwing knife. But I've found that the Golden Gun's utility is in destroying Vehicles. It's far more accurate and the 3 shots will kill that damned Tank thing.

                  • You can upgrade the double jump to a triple jump then the height will be equal if not more then the other classes also the hunter jump is quicker and more controlled
