Currently, to communicate at all you have to be in a fire group with someone and both have mics in. I have played 10+ hours with a mic in hopes of some mmo socializing to no avail. People just don't seem interested in joining a fire group (perhaps due to it reloading you). Having chat work for players within a proximity to each other would greatly increase interplayer connections. This could obviously be turned off, but if I'm exploring the cosmodrome or farming a location for drpps, I'd like to be able to communicate with anyone near me. This would also greatly improve strikes, especially once they become more difficult and require precise coordination.
