Currently, if you join a person's fireteam - even if you're standing right next to them in the world - it forces you go back to orbit and then reload the map area, often placing you leagues from the person who sent you the invite. Likewise, having your partner leave and disband the fireteam causes you to drop back to orbit and reload the area you were just in.
Instead of feeling like a social MMO, it feels more like a traditional multiplayer game where you go to a lobby and form a group before undertaking a mission, and leaving that party forces you to exit back to the lobby again. It needs to be much more seamless, where I can drop in or drop out of a group dynamically without being forced to sit through a loading screen just to get back to the same area I was already in.

THIS. I totally agree with you. Hopefully they can fix this before release date.
-
Please look into this, Bungie.
-
Does sound like something needing to be solved.
-
Unreal idea! Strongly agree
-
Agree completely, definitely an issue that needs addressing.
-
Definitely agree.
-
Am totally with you on that!
-
Agree. It should be like any mmo where you invite and stay in the world.
-
There also needs to be a phase with option so you can play in the same server as your friends on other fire teams.
-
I completely agree with this.
-
Totally agree. as do tons of other people. This needs fixing!
-
Agreed. Hopefully its just a relic from the alpha, and it will be fixed on release.

Edited by Xurelle: 7/19/2014 7:08:34 PMThis game is an instanced FPS. Sorry, but I've been a hardcore MMORPG peep for over a decade now. This is a lobby shooter. There's no comparison to massively multiplayer here. But be grateful, because if there was, you'd either be paying a monthly sub or wicked cash shop prices to unlock parts of the game, all in the name of helping to financially support a bunch of massively multiplayer servers. I agree with you, man, don't get me wrong-- and it would be great! But Destiny is not a massively multiplayer online game, it's a lobby shooter with little LAN-type teams, one extra NPC town (the Tower) and a couple RPG-like special attacks on long cooldowns. But it is still by and large a lobby shooter. Phasing should definitely be improved, though- teammates shouldn't have to jump through three hoops just to get to each other in an instance.
-
Agreed. It very nearly discourages participating in Fireteams. Please consider improving this if possible, Bungie.
-
I've only joined a firearm inthe tower went to missions..but if that is true fix it...and I hope bungie is listening this time
-
I agree.. We should be able to accept the invite and continue on our path. It doesn't make logical sense to go back into orbit just to join someone standing next to you.
-
I agree as well, this should be fixed.

The only 2 complaints I have with this game are the Fireteam functionality and the lack of voice comm integration. The entire social aspect of the game is ruined because of these. I don't even know if people have comms capabilities. At least give me some in game indicator that they're speaking without having to be in a menu. Why would I want to join up with people I'm working with if I'm going to have to sit through a load screen and fight all the bad guys we've already killed to get back to my spot?
-
Edited by Hiatus: 7/19/2014 7:51:12 PMThe areas are instanced to restrict the amount of people in one space, else there would be complications behind the seasons and as players we'd have 300 guardians trying to kill the same groups of enemies. It comes with the territory.
-
+1 for fluidity. If i'm right next to someone, the game shouldn't have to re-warp me back into the same place I just was when joining a Fireteam.
-
didn't they show people flying in and getting dropped off right next to you at E3 last year? that happened twice in the demo. where is that now?
-
Deffinetly agree , so far this game doesn't seem like an MMO
-
I was just complaining about this not even 10 minutes ago, I very much hope Bungie considers this.
-
Agree. And you should be able to request to join fireteams of random strangers you meet. Not just friends. And not just inviting them to yours.
-
On board with this. Needs to be smoother.
-
Agreed
