I'd love the option to see a third-person view of my character in combat areas - even if it disables combat features while inside the view. It'd be nice to explore and check myself out in full armour every now and then without going into the menu. I used to do that quite frequently when exploring in Skyrim, even though I fought in first-person. Anybody else want to see this? It's a small thing, but it would be cool nonetheless.

Hit right on the D-pad. You can see yourself dancing in the combat zone.
-
Yes!!!
-
Use the d pad

I would love to have this option!
-
YES! I felt so cheated when i could only play in third person in the tower :/ It started out third person.... please bungie change it back or let us choose either one!
-
Having the option to see your character in third-person, outside of the Tower in passive mode, would be great. I don't think it would be good for combat though (i.e. skyrim style) since this would unbalance the combat gameplay.
-
+1 yes Also include a tactical zoom / zoom out over head option.
-
Not in 30 fps. It would be to frustrating on trying to focus on what the hell you are doing. Bad enough we're getting this is first person.
-
I want suicide option button in case we lag into walls and let us spawn on friends in PvE
-
Yeah, what's the point of this all these items if u can't view them on 3rd person view.
-
Were you the guy on Gears of War forums asking for a 1st person view for their 3rd person shooter ?
-
I'd actually like The Tower to use the 1st person camera (or at least be given the option). I find the 3rd person camera awkward-looking, and don't want to see my Guardian clipping through walls and other characters.

Totally agree. One of the staples of MMORPGs (which this is trying to be), is the sense of visual feedback regarding your characters gear and growth. Seeing that on a status screen or when buying gear in the Tower doesn't have the same effect. Its quite strange that we can see how cool other players look when running around, yet never ourselves. Also, FPS hands and movements never look quite right; the placement is always off. Just do an over the shoulder crosshair like ESO games use. I don't see what the issue is.

Edited by Nosferacula76: 7/21/2014 4:37:15 PMwhat is the point to this explore in third-person and fight in first-person. I explore on my sparrow which actually takes me to third-person and only hop off when i get shot at which actually takes me to first-person.

I want 3rd person so badly. When we're exploring why can't we be in 3rd person? Why can't I fight through the story in 3rd person? I understand for PVP, but you should have the option everywhere else. Please Bungie, make it happen! I want to see my character.

Edited by Lucky Cat: 7/21/2014 5:03:13 PMThis has always been the thing in Bungie's design, you haven't realized that yet. They always have third person view when in vehicles in their other games. And they always did put you in third person the moment you use a Super because that is the same concept as throwing down a bubble shield in Halo Reach. They are using the similar design from their other games, don't expect them to drastically change it.

Would make a good game great. Add a toggle between first and third. Since the game originally was going to be third person.
-
Not going to happen, same as getting helmet removal.
-
this might have negitive effect on your gameplay, looking down the sights alows you to have more percision with your shots. but third person games gerneraly only have a crossarrow whitch would be like a permenet hipfire. good though but i dont know how they would do it.

Agreed

I believe R3 isn't mapped to anything so that would be great if we could have it used to switch out between 3rd and 1st person. Totally agree.
-
I would also like that as an option but not locked thing. Still loving first person pvp
-
I would like to see this! I'd use the option frequently.
-
I think that they should allow for a 3rd person perspective when not playing in pvp and keep pvp first person view only. The reason why is because a person playing 3rd person may have a distinct advantage over someone playing first person mode when it comes to overall surrounding awareness on small maps this would make 3rd person the better option.

I completely agree. Borderlands also did this. Where they are like "Hey you can customize your character....that you will see 10% of the time, aren't you glad we spent all this time designing this thing you never see?" To me, putting all this effort into armor, then making the game first person is like designing a randomizer to make the world's coolest underwear, then going to work for 8 hours, unless your job requires you to go to work in your underwear.
