Soak It In.
Ladies and gents, this is the last Bungie Day before the release of Destiny. Let that soak in for a second: [b][u]the last Bungie Day before Destiny comes out.[/u][/b] This is a rare thing and it won't happen again for another 10 years. Yes, Destiny will have sequels but this is the last Bungie Day before the launch of a new series from Bungie (or at least I think so). This one is going to be important. 10 years from now if you and I are still on this site, and hopefully we will be, then we'll be able to say that we were here and the people who have already been here almost a decade can say they were here before that. That's pretty cool, right?
So enjoy this. Enjoy the friends you have today and embrace the fact that you're here now because this part in Bungie history is pretty significant. For the new members, I'm glad to celebrate this first Bungie Day with you and be glad that you're here for this. For the members who have been here since the darkness, I'm glad you all stuck around. For the grizzled ancients, it's an honor to celebrate Bungie Day with you and I look forward to pumping you full of lead in the beta.
Sorry if this is a rant, but I'm just excited for today and I'm excited to share today with the rest of the community. Be safe, have an amazing Bungie day, and like I said already: cheerish this moment. It won't come again for another decade. Be Brave.

However, Destiny and the absolutely stunning gameplay footage I've seen has dictated that I pre-order Destiny and rejoin this fantastic community to which I've been a part of for so very long. In fact, adding up the years... It is almost more than half of my life at this point... Crazy. Edit: Okay, joined in '04, not almost half of my life. But still ten years... Damn. Edit 2: Also, as pointless as those old school forum headers/ranks were, I kind of miss being a "legendary/mythic" member.

I bet this is how community members felt in the months before Halo CE was released. Of course there wasn't a Bungie Day back then.

The last Bungie Day before Destiny? Well it only happens once a year, so that isn't special. Something like "last full week before Destiny" or "last Tuesday before Destiny" is special, because we go through so many Tuesdays without Destiny being released, and we go through a lot of weeks.

4 RepliesFor some reason, it took this thread for it to finally sink in that I'll be almost 50 by the time Destiny runs it's course. I propose a geriatric setting for those of us who are losing that twitch reflex. Perhaps a nice walker for our in-game avatars.
