This post reminds me of an idea I had the other day. Someone should make a PvP centric clan called "witch hunt".

Edited by Glitched: 6/16/2014 6:07:13 AMCru·ci·ble ˈkro͞osəbəl/ noun -a ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. -a place or occasion of severe test or trial. "the crucible of combat" -a place or situation in which different elements interact to produce something new.
-
well the reason they call it that is (my thought on why) is because your characters are basically space wizards/witches, your powers just came from an "alien" object. right?
-
Trust me it doesn't mean that, I'm kinda an expert
-
You are a troll or an amazing idiot
-
*A* crucible is not a book about "witches and shit" however there is a book (and shitty movie) named 'the crucible' about witches and shit. Grimoire cards are also about pagan-y magic stuff. Lots of the game has fantasy inspired names.
-
Edited by DigiOps: 6/15/2014 10:40:44 PMA crucible is also a container that can withstand extremely high temperatures. It is also the name of a Dalek space station in Doctor Who. There is an episode of Fraiser titled "The Crucible". More accurately, the Crucible you're referring to uses the Salem witch trials as an allegory for the accusations in the United States, at the time of the writing, that some people were communist spies including the author. ...It also sounds cooler than "matchmaking".
-
It's a great play written by Arthur Miller about the Salem witch trials in response to McCarthyism.

And if it did? For all we know at the end of destiny we find out ODIN is the one true GOD and still who cares?
-
do you mean grimoire?
-
Because it's the Crucible. It's PvP. You could call Strikes match making, too.
-
Crucible is a container used for smelting metals. It's hot in side hot heavy metal!
-
Edited by Nemo: 6/16/2014 12:14:15 AMI don't recall it being a book, but it was definitely a (admittedly less-than-stellar) play. Besides, the word "crucible" has more than one meaning. It's not just a book title.
-
This topic is killing me
-
I saw the name of this post and burst out laughing
-
First of all, The Crucible is a play. Also, a crucible is tool used in chemistry for very hot substances. If you needed to burn something at very high temperatures, you'd use a crucible. It's called that because there's a lot of fire and heat and action, like in a crucible.

Edited by Ocean Man: 6/15/2014 10:55:08 PMI will be the John Proctor of Destiny's Crucible! “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!” EDIT: I actually played John Proctor for my English Class assignment, me and my classmates recorded it and showed it in class. Great guy.
-
Lol I just finished reading that in school. When I noticed it in the game I I was confused as to why they named it that

You are now my favorite B.net person.

Look up the definition of a crucible and you will understand.

Edited by Grifshot: 6/15/2014 11:06:56 PMReading this on my cracked phone. It read: "The crucible is a bowl of witches shit You can imagine my reaction and confusion.
-
Another definition is " a place or occasion of severe test or trial." Just like the final test in Marine Corps Bootcamp is the crucible which lasts 54 hours and ends with a 10 mile hike. After the hike the Recruits are handed the Eagle Globe and Anchor to symbolize they have earned the title of Marine.

I'm gonna go smoke a crucibowl

You're thinking of Grimoire.
gri·moire [greem-wahr] noun a manual of magic or witchcraft used by witches and sorcerers.
