What would you change about this PC setup?

  • I could be a troll and say, "Sell it and get [INSERT CONSOLE HERE]," but then I remember that nobody here handles trolls very well, so I'm just going to sift through the comments and eventually move on.

  • Do you need the i7? That's mainly for editing so you're not going to really benefit a whole lot for gaming

    • So beside the up to date GPU and 16GB of RAM, why would this cost $3000? I bought everything listed, minus the GPU and only has an 8GB RAM which came to $900, in Australia! Where everything is fantastically expensive! *sips tea*

    • $3000? Give me time and you'll be playing in 4K asap.

^My desk Get an SSD and and get an external sound card instead of an internal one. External soundcards have better audio quality than internal ones because there is little to no interference in an external one. The ODAC + O2 combo probably has the best performance/prize ratio. You should probably get a nice pair of headphones too like a pair of Beyerdynamics DT 880s or if you've got lots of money to burn then get the STAX SR-009 (you need a powerful Amp to drive them though). I'd get a triple monitor setup if I were you. It's great for multitasking. I can watch a video, browse bungie.net, and play a game at the same time. And something that IMO is a must have for a good gaming setup is a good mechanical keyboard. I have a Steelseries 6gv2 with red Cherry MX switches. It's a good cheap ($100) mechanical keyboard. If you've got money to spend and if you like high quality keyboards then get a Korean one like the KMAC 2 (some assembly and additional parts required). Mechanical keyboards are not only more comfortable to type on but you can also customize them with some awesome keycaps!

              • How did you go from "I wanna emulate a GameCube" to "I'm gunna build a $3000 monster that can time travel and run a spaceship"

                • Awful graphics card choice for that money. My rig cost me close to £3000 (works out at around $5000) but that's factoring in the extra cost of just being in the UK - everything is more expensive here. For that kind of money you want AT LEAST a 3GB GTX 780, if not a GTX 780 Ti. Hell, if you're going hard, do what I did and get two EVGA Classified GTX 780s and run them together. The memory and CPU are overkill for a gaming rig - mine has an i7 3770K and it was a poor choice, more expensive and less of the bonuses. The RAM I have is great for video editing, which is only something I do on occasion. Mine is -blam!-ing overkill. But you can go better than a GTX 770 for that money. Way better.

                    • Monitors. You need to have 3 monitors.
