Kenobi -vs- Vader/Anakin

So, the two dueled twice. But looking at both duels, who "won" in your opinion?
Duel #1 on Mustafar. Both in their prime.
"Don't make me kill you." - Vader "I will do what I must." - Kenobi "You will try.'" -Vader End result. Kenobi gets the "high-ground", warns Vader to not try to attack, Vader feels confident in his abilities, attacks, Kenobi defends, takes Vader's arm & both legs, Kenobi collects Vader's lightsaber, watches Vader catch fire and walks away.
Duel #2 on the first Death Star. Both aged, Kenobi especially so.
"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master." - Vader "You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." - Kenobi A slow and cautious (especially compared to prequels) duel commences. Kenobi is tiring, defensive, and when he spots that the others are able to board the Millennium Falcon, he ceases to fight, brings his saber to a vertical position, Vader strikes and Kenobi's robes empty and his lightsaber falls to the deck. Vader collects Kenobi's lightsaber. So, is the final meeting a win for Vader? Did he actually "kill" Kenobi? Or did Kenobi "become one with the Force" as Vader swung? Was that his plan all along? IMO, it (did Vader ever beat Kenobi?) is not as clear as "Han shot first". What are your thoughts?

  • I feel Kenobi won overall. In Ep. III, he crippled Vader. Not just physically but mentally and perhaps spiritually too. If Anakin had defeated Kenobi, he could have been with Padme and that could have maybe saved her. Vader's anger came from the fact that his true love was dead. With Padme it could have been subdued. I feel Vader essentially defeated himself. In Ep. IV, Vader was shocked that Kenobi's body had disappeared, even checking the clothes. Reappearing to guide Luke to use the Force, Kenobi, Luke's shots may not have hit if Kenobi was still alive so the Death Star wouldn't have blown up. I say Kenobi won.

  • Lot of discrepancies with Star Wars. Darth Maul had the high ground over Obi-wan yet Obi-wan won? Vader lost too Obi-wan, only because sidious had manipulated Anakin. Had Anakin not been corrupted by sidious. Anakin would have kicked his arse! On another note Darth Bane would beat Yoda's, Luke's, Vader's, Sidious' Plaguieus' and Tyranus' arse's. Keep Right On!

  • Personally, I liked the fight in Episode III better If the prequels got one thing right, it was that scene I thought Hayden was a very mediocre actor and the character was poorly written but once he went over to the dark side, I really felt the anger and hate Very intense and emotional Great action and then the jump scene Anakin jumping up to Obi Wan really showed his arrogance and how naive he was He knew he would fail but still did it Then Obi Wan's speech was great "Only a Sith deals in absolutes" Great line

  • Kenobi won both duels. He turned Vader into a robotic cripple in the first, and became immortal in the second.

Since Anakin killed the original Ben Kenobi, I doubt one of his aged clones left over from the Clone Wars would be any trouble.
All of you shutup. This is what really happened The prequels don't exists and the Clone Wars were called that because they were fought with the clones of the jedi Ben Kenobi, whom Anakin killed.
•
[D]id Kenobi "become one with the Force" as Vader swung? Was that his plan all along?
The answer to your first question is debatable, but no, Kenobi's plan did not stem as far back as Episode III. It was kind of a win for everyone, since the order of events eventually saved the galaxy.

      • THEY LATER SHOW KENOBI AS A GHOST, ALONG WITH YODA AND SOMEBODY ELSE. MY GUESS IS THAT'S ONE OF THE PERKS OF ONE WITH THE FORCE, AS THEY DON'T SHOW ANY OTHER GHOSTS.

          • After he won the race on Tatooine, Anakin/Vader only ever failed when it was important, until his final rebellion against Sidious.

          • I think in some funny way, Obi-Wan lost in his first duel. Victory wise, he was the winner. But he lost something in the process with having to at the time, kill his friend. One the last round, Kenobi won.

            • Kenobi could have lobbed Anakin's head off no problem at the end of the first one, so he wins.
