So this is something that has been on my mind since it was announced that Destiny would be on both current and next gen consoles. Where is your guardian data stored? Will it be local or on a server or both?
Why is this important to me you might ask. Well I don't plan on getting any next gen console in the foreseeable future mainly because of funds. So until that changes I'll be rocking the Xbox 360. This means that whether I like it or not eventually it will be made obsolete and given the plans for Destiny and the future of the franchise I will likely need to upgrade. So here is my concern, I will have invested countless hours on my Guardian only to have stripped away from me when I migrate to a next gen console, that is if the Guardian is a local only save. Given that the game uses the internet connection to keep the world of destiny current, is it possible to have a dedicated server for Guardian data that can be backed up from your console. If stored on both a server and local then the data could be time stamped to note the most current version of the Guardian. If so, then would it be possible to transfer your current gen Guardian to next gen in order to avoid the dreaded recreation of multiple months and possibly years of effort? And even crazier still, is it possible to recognize a Microsoft console from a Sony console and convert that saved data so that the Guardian could be cross platform?
I know that the latter possibility is a stretch but the idea of current gen to next gen I think may be possible, but then again I'm not the software engineer who has to do it so what do I know. So where's my Guardian at Bungie?

I believe DeeJ confirmed cross platform saves in a tweet a while back. Now if they can do that, I imagine cross generation saves won't be far behind. Most likely it will utilise cloud saving or something to that effect. Sorry I don't have a more solid answer.
