The recent cuts, and last year's vote in Parliament not to engage British forces in Syria also had an impact on opinion abroad.
"That's led people in some other countries to ask - is the UK a serious military player any more? A series of relatively small issues led to the perception that we are not the power or the reliable ally for the US we once were ten years ago," says Prof Clarke,
Do I still think you're pedo? Yes
-
Not as big of a threat as you around a group of kids
-
Of course they are. While not as big as many of the worlds super power army's, the UK still holds perhaps the best Special Forces in service as well as perhaps the best naval force in the world. Their air force is also seriously powerful and they have very competent soldiers. They definitely among the most powerful military's in the world.
-
It strikes me my aua thread got us Brits lots of attention.
-
Probably not Jim, should we fix it?

We have vampires and time travelling aliens, so yes
-
Im pretty sure British soldiers are still the best in the world.
-
No, and I'm glad.
-
Yes, and if there was a major conflict I'm sure with our resources we could be quite a serious power, there's just no need for us to be anymore. No one wants to kill us right now, and we have the rest of the EU and NATO on our side. It's still a shame that they're cutting the military though, and it is important to us that we remain reliable to our allies in conflicts.

We've still got David Cameron's forehead. We can use it to effectively reflect the Sun's beams in such a way that it can cut straight through warships.
-
Well we have the SAS, so that's something. We are still a power, but not like we once were.
-
they got best special forces in the world, that's enough for them.
-
It has more of an ability to wage war successfully than most, but it has been in decline in terms of its position in the world for a long time, though why people would consider that a bad thing, for the life of me I couldn't say... y'know, pride aside.

"The sun has finally set on Britain"
-
Are they? Of course. Are they as powerful as in the past? Nope. But, no one really is anymore. Since the end of the Cold War there isn't a need for a massive standing military.
-
No, they aren't a military power, far from it. You are a pacified nation now.
