Move Follower Count to a less conspicuous Area please.

I've been seeing it more and more lately. People are too focussed on follower counts. They make threads specifically to beg for followers, or humble-brag about how many they have. What's worse is that unlike the old title system, the follower system can be directly manipulated by the offender. To fix this, I suggest that the follower count be moved to an area of the profile that is viewable only after a few clicks to play back the importance of it, or even all together remove the ability to view another members follower count. I'm not some person with no followers complaining about those with more bragging, (I have enough to prove any accusations otherwise.) I just find it rather annoying. It's certainly not site-breaking, but I do wish the system was modified to be harder to abuse and/or play down the importance of followers.

  • I really feel like there are dozens of more pressing issues at the moment. If it truly bothers you that much, then ignore it. Many members enjoy this feature, and if someone feels as if they have to brag about it, then so be it. Do you not remember us Mythics back in the day? The follower count can inform someone that this particular person may be a helpful or entertaining member in the community. If someone's ego is so starved that they need to make 100 alts to follow themselves, why should it matter to you? If you see someone bragging about their follower count, then mute them. Simple as that.

    • I'll agree, it's annoying when people ask for followers. I gave a user some shit about that a little while back. But there's an easy way to not deal with those users anymore... Mute them. There's an idea... if having a stat on your profile encourages people to use that feature... Lets add a mute count to the profiles. It'll get people excited about muting.

I don't think hiding it will make a difference. Follower count can be a good thing (somewhat) for newbies so they know who to pay attention to, to learn the ropes.

          • I think it should display instead of our usernames. Then I'd know whose posts I should bother to read. >.> <.<

            • Everybody that has more then 50 followers should get flaming recon armourz helmet. Follow me if you agree.
I don't really care for the follow feature. If they hid the numbers I wouldn't care and if they keep it the way it is I won't care. I have seen maybe two threads about people asking for followers so I don't think at this point that is a huge problem. And if people say " ha I have more followers then you", I suggest you point and laugh at that douchington tool bitch shit face.
• I've seen 2 follower begging threads total. Moving it won't do anything I'd think.

                • Well, at least this isn't a call to remove the follow feature, which I actually use to follow the people I follow.

                    • I think I know who you're talking about; begging for followers. I agree with you that it's incredibly annoying to see begging threads, but I think there are more important issues that need fixing first. But yeah, I know what you're saying.

                      • Or just mute them... I mean that helps to destroy their need for attention
(I have enough to prove any accusations otherwise.)
SHUT UP YOU HUMBLE BRAGGER ! OT I agree, though titles need to return at the same time. Because if some random 5-8 year member starts talking crap to me without provocation I want to know whether or not to take them seriously, and follower counts help me to make superficial judgements, in the old days most of those users wouldn't have been Mythics on account of being banned a few times.
