Halo is going to overthrow Halo. It's fan base wants 3.5 with very little dynamics and RPG elements attached. TitanFall showcases speed and agility with Mechs that have movement and dynamics and Destiny follows suit with off the rail exploration and RPG elements that branch into Skyrim and Borderlands territory. Halo fans want arena type game play with one gun to rule the combat stage and they can't decide if AAs should remain while Sprint is an question mark at best. No new enemies since it will be covenant models re-skinned at best and same old elements in vehicles and basic stagnation and game atrophy. 343 is run remotely by executives from Microsoft who have thousands of thousands of dollars sunk into the franchise, so they look at COD an say that's what attracts players and shoved it into the last game. It ran players off in the droves, now they are going to either follow up with more COD or Halo 3.5, but not in a good way. It will be in the way like how they screwed up the Infinity playlist. But deep down in Microsoft I know they are betting on TitanFall to replace Halo. They want it to. Less bitching, fast paced, new IP that won award after award, will sell toys and books, and they can be free of the cost of running and maintaining a game studio for a fanatical fan base who hates them anyways. I expect Franky will say its Halo all over guys again. It will look awesome on the commercials. But it's 343 so it will suck on playlists and eventual DLC shenanigans. Throw down your 65.00 if you want I'm outta this game. Just My opinion. So don't blow a gasket.

I'm going to say no. Halo will die of natural causes.

  • Probably not. Why does it matter?

  • Nope. Halo will always be special and hold a place in most people's hearts. Destiny (provided it's going to be as epic as we hope) is like welcoming a newborn child into the world. You don't love the older child any less, you just have more love to give to the new life in front of you. ^_^ In all seriousness though, Halo (the Bungie Halo's, though i personally kinda like the direction 343 is going) was a truly epic and very complex story, and it redefined the FPS genre for console gaming, both for campaign and multiplayer. Destiny is looking like it wants to do the same thing, but all at once. I don't think anything will ever really overthrow Halo just because of how much it changed how we game, but Destiny looks to be something that could put a new twist on the way we will be gaming in the future in it's own right. We will have to wait and see how it turns out though. This is all my personal opinions, of course.

  • No one knows until we start playing Destiny. But in all fairness, they aren't the same genre or story, so it isn't really a answerable question. It will be the same as the "Sony vs Microsoft" war, both have a weak similarity, but you can never really answer it because they are too different. If you are on about sales: then I'm sure Destiny will have a struggle, but will win, as more and more people are playing consoles now.

yeah, but i want to continue with the halo story and if 343 is smart, it could make halo 3 style gameplay (with some variety while keeping core gameplay the same)for the next halo, thus drawing players for multiplayer as well.
