Make the rules more strict (and the mods more useful again).

This forum is constantly being spammed, shitposted, trolled etc. The mods rarely come now because the rules are so lenient most idiots can get away the punishment. The old forums were strict, this place is like a baby park, you can't get in trouble and if you do it won't be for very long. The rules are too lenient as I said because they allow most (if not all) people to get away with shitposting. Mods don't do anything now and I don't blame them, they don't care because they can't. Many people on B.net will agree with me. There are NO bans anymore, when b.next launched, mods were frequently here and people could get banned but around 5 months into b.next most of them rarely post or moderate. Some like Recon were around and occasionally Bob but those two kinda stopped now as well. It's not that the mods don't have power, it's the rules. The rules are too lenient (how many times have I said this lol). The mods only ban people who are frequently reported. This is bad because many other forum trolls get away, many forum users don't even bother reporting simply because it doesn't work anymore. Keep the reporting feature but give mods MORE power by making the rules more strict and ultimately allowing mods to ban people who are actually spamming, trolling etc instead of waiting for them to get reported by like 20 people then being able to ban them. Let the community deal with the larger/more popular idiots by reporting them and informing the mods to ban them whilst the mods can tackle smaller/less known/less cared for idiots. Simple. The mute button was a good idea but it still takes up space on the forum pages, it just hides them but shows they are still there and kinda decrease the range of threads you can view. Does anyone agree with me? Can anyone add or change my idea to make it better?--Feel free to change or offer other ideas because we are trying to achieve the best possible way to deal with this problem. EDIT: Deej posting a thread about improving the system. It looks like our pleas MIGHT pay off.
There are NO bans anymore
Please tell that to the people I banned this morning. I'm sure they'd love to hear that. Bans are more about removing content now; there is much less of a public spectacle than there used to be. Nothing against a healthy discussion of the moderators or rules but please don't spread BS like this. Thanks.

    • Need to have a better structured report Que, as well as giving the mods a better way of detecting when mass muting is going wrong. I like a good debate, but if it degenerates to the point where people are insulting each other, then the mods need to take action.

      • I never thought I would see the day when a thread like this was posted about the community forum or any forum other than The Flood.

      • I find this post ironic, because posting something like "shitposted," which you are apparently fine with doing, was banable under the old regime. On topic, I wouldn't be adverse to that. Might make me actually be active here again.

Like True Underdog stated, "Bans are more about removing content now; there is much less of a public spectacle than there used to be."

I would very much like to see an increase in moderation and a modestly more strict rule system. But the problem is a difficult one to address. What areas of the forum should be tightened up? What rules should be established? What will create the most positive change without completely eliminating freedom? What.. exactly.. is shit posting? Realistically, once Bungie begins tightening the reins, will anyone actually be happier? Probably not unless it becomes a major point of effort from the team. And I don't know if that will ever really be in the cards with all the other things they have on their plate. So basically.. yeah, I hope some changes are in our future. But damned if I have the answers as to what those changes need to be.
