Money Glitches? Just a observation.

Since Destiny has been reported to have an player economy it runs the risk of player's discovering money glitches that will be exploited and youtubed and what will be the response from Bungie? Patches to outright bans? Or perhaps some well earned praise. What? Ban them! Wait... not so fast. Playing GTA V I found a glitch this morning on youtube that allows players to resell personal vehicles infinitely. You can walk away very rich in less than a hour. Before that it was replaying the mission over and over or grabbing a boat and farming a briefcase full of money in the sea. Each had a risk. Some of those missions are not so easy when solo or at low level. Some tried to swim without dive equipment. Unlike AFKs It seemed they earned every cent by facing in-game threats as much as racing or death matches. Right now players are running rampant trying to sell cars and motorcycles at Los Santos Customs while other players have staked those points of entry to gank them before they can enter in hopes to collect whatever amount the victim was carrying. That's just as dangerous as Survival or a Death Match, if not more so with the huge risk involved against other players who have radar and advantage of being ready to strike a player loading into the spawn point by LScustom. I've seen it done and it's both awesome for the hunter as nerve wracking for the target. Now a couple game blogs have reported Rockstar is going to patch it and those who used it might face a ban, which I find funny due to here's a game developer who sold a game for a billion dollars based on characters who skirt the fringe and cheat the system being thieves and when the players find loopholes it's five stars on their butts to protect the game economy, which everyone equates to Rockstar trying to protect the micro-transactions in reality. Call them cheaters but really deep down those guys are beta testing. They are finding the loopholes. I found one in the third week that might have been patched... where activating your inventory and repeatedly pressing the "ecola" will down the attack Helicopters in Survival. The other three guys were screaming not to disclose it because they got it to work as well. Note: I think it's gone now. So it was fun while it lasted. So you're playing Destiny and you kill a boss next thing you're doing is saving and switching a character and switching back and wallah you get to fight the boss over again and gain extra loot and money till you're rolling in it. If you have to fight that boss over and over it doesn't bother me that a player faced it repeatedly to earn that glimmer. Does it bother you or would it be something you'd let slide knowing they had to face it over and over? These kind of glitches are going to crop up from guys jumping into tanks and letting the Ai blast away gaining them xp to weird jumps using menus to spawning saved games to who knows what. Just when xp or in game currency is present get ready for the Destiny gold rush I'm sure it will be interesting if it's a complex economy.

  • I imagine all the really sweet loot won't be found in the market stalls. They'll be at the end of an epic quest. So, sure maybe people will figure out a way to game the system, but they won't get Gjallerhorn without putting in some effort.

  • Well, if it's an exploit, and you're getting something you're not suppose to be getting, than I hope Bungie either takes away what you've gained, perhaps a penalty is issued, perhaps if you try to repeat offend a ban is issued. Network tampering is never okay, so if that's how you exploit the game, I think a ban is in order. If you find an easy place to farm, lets hope Bungie learns about it soon before everybody goes there and throws the balance of the game off. I don't know if we'll see anything like that, because with Reach Bungie learned a few things about an RPG-like exp leveling system, with credits that is. How you overtime get less credits for doing the same thing. Farming with the trigger weapon to get multi-killionaires in campaign eventually didn't get you many credits at all. I hope Bungie balances everything out and makes things water tight by not allowing easy farms.

    • Doing the money glitch in gta online where you sold and expensive bike over and over again was completely risk free and those who abused it should have their cars/houses/garages deleted.

      • Should be bannable since it would destroy the game

      • You're completely wrong about referring to exploiting bugs as "beta testing". You aren't talking about people finding a bug and reporting it to make sure it gets fixed, you're talking about people finding a bug, keeping quiet to exploit it as much as possible and then destroying the economy with massive amounts of wealth. You can't find every single bug before a game launches, that's just ridiculous to think it's remotely possible. Anyone who tries to get ahead by damaging the game and its economy deserves a ban immediately. It's not "testing" or any other justification you can call it, it's damaging to the game and people who do that lose the right to play the game.

The money glitch wouldn't be so feasible if money wasn't such a pain in the ass to obtain. Either you buy millions or you glitch it. Rockstar is only butthurt because people found a way to make easy money without micro transactions. In light of Destiny, I'm confident that bungie will not make the same mistakes when it comes to the MP economy.

          • The whole gta car money glitch would not be necessary if Rock-star did not make it such a pain to earn a decent amount of money. They have done numerous nerf to the amount of money you can make the games main source of income, missions. They made it so you couldn't replay a mission and they have also lowered the amount of money you earn from the mission the more you do it. This is also made worse because the money cards that Rock-star has for gta 5 have not worked at all I believe since the game as come out. So this is on Rock-star for making this game a very unnecessary grind fest to even get a good amount for things.

            • Of all things people shouldn't be glitc hong money in destiny. If you have a bungie account it's because you follow bungie and respect them for the challenge (whether it be financial or gameplay) they give you to make the game worth your while.

            • A well thought out thread, good job Dez. There will probably be a few little glitches, but I don't think Bungie will hand out bans unless people are using the system to hurt other players. If there is a player based economy and auction system, I am totally going to sink some section of it with a few friends on a weekday XD (I used to do that in Warcraft with rare metals high level players needed to grind their skill levels, so much fun lol)

To me, if it was not meant to be implemented/designed that way then it is an exploit and in my opinion considered cheating. Whether it is made available to everyone and whether it has risk involved it in it irrelevant to me. Stuff like that should be reported and patched.
