And US Vice-President Joe Biden said there was "no doubt" the Syrian government was responsible. ]

David Cameron has discussed Syria with Barack Obama by telephone as Britain and the US consider intervention.
The UK's response will be discussed at a National Security Council (NSC) meeting later, while the US has said its forces are "ready to go".
The prime minister said on Tuesday the world could not "stand idly by" as the Syrian government used chemical weapons against its own people.
But Syria's foreign minister denied his government had used chemical weapons.
The government blamed opposition fighters for last Wednesday's alleged chemical attack near Damascus, which reportedly killed more than 300 people.
UN weapons inspectors are to return to the site of the suspected attack later.
BBC defence correspondent Caroline Wyatt said any military strikes would probably focus on command centres believed to be involved in the use of chemical weapons.
She said cruise missiles could be launched from US ships in the Gulf or the Mediterranean, or Royal Navy vessels including submarine HMS Tireless.

Is anyone surprised? These tyrants will continue to fight phony and illegal wars. What's funny is our own governments cause far more destruction than these alleged chemical attacks.
-
No, it can't be. No more war in Syria. AllahHuAkbar!
-
Barry should wear his Peace Prize medal around his neck when he announces the strikes... - Der
-
WE ARE AT WAR WITH SYRIA!!! why wasnt it on the news?
-
Logically speaking, it makes no sense for Syria to use chemical weapons. It makes a lot of sense for the opposition to use chemical weapons though.

Edited by Capitons Wang: 8/28/2013 12:54:07 PMdont see a confirmation, especially since i read two hours ago U investigators are still in syria.
-
Been camping out the eternal /pol/ thread for a while. Apparently Thursday or Sunday are the days. I really don't know what Syria expects to do against a US backed nation though. They and Iran say if US interferes they'll attack Israel.
-
So war hasn't been confirmed but is looking likely and there could be surgical strikes later this week but they'd have to be authorised by the UN first? Misleading title is misleading...
-
And we still don't even know who used the gas.
-
What, did I read that the real life UNSC will be involved again? We got Syrians in the courtyard!

THis is very sad. I hope the US loses this war.
-
And history repeats itself...again. Why does it always come down to a square-off between the two cold-war enemies in the background? US supports the rebels, while Russia supports Assad. Now throw in the surrounding Middle East, and we've got a kid on skittles about to explode.
-
Despite there being literally no evidence of the Assad using chemical weapons, the west will start pounding the war drums anyway. Also, don't sensationalize. even though it's obvious we're going to war, they aren't exactly saying that.
-
Just as we're getting out of one war, we manage to get mixed up in another. Why am I not surprised at all?
-
Not war, precision strikes. And this would be carried out by N.A.T.O., although I'm a bit concerned over how the U.N. will judge the action seeing as it's not going to be a U.N. coalition effort.
-
Stupid Government.
-
And so the dormant south border between Lebanon and Israel becomes undormant. Hezbollah threaten to attack Israel if US takes action.
-
Do we even have the money to go o war with another country?
-
When we want to go to war, we just start blowing shit up undeclared as fk.
-
Dafuq is this crap? Basically, I'm saying: TL;DR.
-
From what Rudd was saying yesterday, it sounds like we'll be going too. Not that we have any choice, with the ANZUS treaty and all (if I'm not mistaken?), but y'know.
-
Lets hope this is just more sabre rattling :(
-
Not confirmed.
-
Nice job sensationalizing of the topic. War has not been declared or confirmed by anyone.
