Check Out Our Work

Know that it isn't complete yet, I'm just brainstorming ideas for a Destiny topic. Edit: This is more than just a possible topic, it's the thread that might solve Destiny. Lupus constellation - brightest star Alpha Lupi: This will probably be more important than everyone thinks. It could be where an enemy species came from or even the Traveler itself. Edit: For some reason I'm almost positive that this is where the Traveler came from. It just seems so right. If that's true, that means this is where the Darkness came from as well. Update: Frogget did some great research on this topic. He's uncovered stuff about the Tablet of Destinies and somethings that could connect the Vex to the constellation. I highly suggest you look at his work, he posted it below. FOTC + DeeJ's avatar = Pippin (musical, Broadway, Fosse) Edit: Forces of the City - they probably run the Guardians and whatnot. Charlemagne - War Mind v. King of men The piece of Charlemagne mentioned here could be very important. Depending on when we get it, this will confirm if Ghost is Joyeuse or not. Joyeuse - The Traveler? Ghost? Or something else? Need more data. It must be some sort of weapon/AI, it could be Ghost...I'm almost certain it is. Still, best not to just assume since this would be the first time the player isn't the wield of the sword. (Wait...who used Joyeuse after Charlemagne? Maybe...) "...built by the ancient Powers of Mars." Why is the 'p' in "Powers" capitalised? What are these ancient powers that created Charlemagne? Possible connection to King Charlemagne's wars. Charlemagne is connected to Osiris and Egypt. The Valley of the King card proves this. Edit: The Traveler created the Warminds. Brilliant. Progo's analysis of the similarities between Egyptian mythology and Destiny (very useful). Fallen - Souls, houses, similarities to Guardians - Pirates/Saxons/Charlemagne's enemy Cabal - Romans Hive - Egyptian Vex - Greek(?) - We aren't sure what they are, but Greek is a decent placeholder. I mean Minotaur seems to fit with it. Darkness - Mythological enemy (Egyptian ties, but also others) The Masked man - Who is he? What is he? (Albus? Possibly.) [I call him the Mask because I'm so clever.] Warlocks and Sorcerers (Fallen Lords?) Fourier and signals - Is this how the Traveler found us? Egyptian mythos and Destiny (Onyx Pyramids, Osiris, the Traveler etc.) Edit: We've linked the Hive, the Traveler, Osiris, and the Darkness to Egyptian mythology, not to mention a few other things. It would seem that part of Destiny is based off of the battle between Set and Osiris. The Hive are literally mummies and it's possible that we are "Horus" in this game. I might have gotten that mixed up, I'll have Progo clarify it. Geomancy Monday - Populous/Via - Water - Moon Tuesday - Puer/Rubeus - Fire (+ Earth + Air [No water/emotion]) - Mars Wednesday - Albus/Conjunctio - Air (+ Water) - Mercury Thursday - Acquisito/Laetitia - Air (+ Fire) - Jupiter Friday - Puella/Amissio - Water (+ Air) - Venus Saturday - Tristitia/Carcer - Air (+ Earth) - Saturday Sunday - Fortuna Major/Fortuna Minor - Fire (+ Earth) - Sun The first deities are more important. Law of the Jungle = Frontier Justice (i.e. Vigilantism, taking law and justice into your own hands. That makes you a sort of guardian...Guardian) Strikes - Most likely some sort of team-based game-type. PvP or PvE is the real question though. Dragons - Caput/Cauda Draconis - Moon (Angel-dragons are Seraphs. I wonder if there are se7e of them.) Need more data. If I use this I'll credit him. Update: Alright, so I've been looking into what Progo researched about Osiris and there are some big similarities between Osiris and the original Charlemagne. Here are the similarities: 1. They are both Kings who became either divine or enforced religion (Charlemagne was practically a man-god). 2. Both of their thrones were taken by their son(s) after their passing. (These ones are to do with Destiny) 3. It's interesting to see how similar Mars and and Egypt are when it comes to sand dunes and sandstorms. This could also play into Set. I think we (our characters) might be Horus in some way, at least based off of him. T4R. Ghosts in the Machine leads Progo and I to believe that Ghost might be part of a Warmind. If it's from Charlemagne, it's most likely Joyeuse. Charlemagne was created by the Traveler (as well as the other Warminds). The Exos seem to have come around the same time. I believe that their existence it due to the Traveler creating soldier-like people. The Traveler's magic must have changed Humans into Awoken. If the Traveler created the Warminds, that's probably how it communicated to Humanity when it first arrived. The Warminds, Charlemagne in particular, probably resulted in the creation of the AI known as Ghost. If Ghost is Joyeuse everything fits. The Traveler came to our solar system as it fled from the Darkness. This can only mean one thing. It chose to come here, even if it was an accident that it found us, it chose to stay. It created the Warminds, the AI, the weapons, the technology, possibly the Exos, the Awoken, it gave us magic, and more. It didn't just help us, it prepared us for a war that it knew was coming. It didn't just save us, we saved it as well. The Director: some sort of guide in the game, but not an actual person. It could be something like Ghost, but I'm no so sure. I think it might be the FOTC AI that assigns missions to the Guardians or helps with defenses/assaults and such. It might even run (parts of) the City similarly to how Virgil did in ODST. The Companion: Not much is known about it yet, but if it's in relation to Ghost it could be related to the AI version of Joyeuse. Our speeder bikes, called the Shrike, have ties to Greek mythology and connections to the soul. We can spawn them from the ether and they are, in ways, within us. They grow as we use them. Seems pretty solid. Progo came up with a really interesting theory on Phogoth. Since the Hive are based in the Moon (Hellmouth to be exact), it's entirely possibly they created Phogoth so they could "drop" it into the Last City. It could cause mayhem and chaos on its own, but what about other Hive Ogres going with it? Another Warmind — Rasputin. Of course he would be in Old Russia. We think Gandhi could also be one. From the Beta we've learnt that Osiris might actually be a person or being of sorts. The Cryptarch mentioned him a few times if you stayed around to listen. Ad astra. ~07/07/2013

You could be right. After all, Alpha Lupi did do this whole thing-a-ma-gig with pictures and star patterns or geomancy symbols. In the end, on the final picture with all of them aligned, it kind of looked like the traveler was the circle connecting all the stars and geomancy symbols. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, google Alpha Lupi Bungie

I just made a connection that may or may not be relevant. Destiny is related to Egyptian mythology, right? I was looking at Bungie's old game, Pathways Into Darkness, where you explore a pyramid down in South America. In the game, it's at least suggested that the pyramid is Egyptian. It's described as "neither Aztec or Mayan", and on some levels hieroglyphics can be found that look suspiciously Egyptian. Made me wonder if the hieroglyphics could be translated, and what they would say. Maybe I'll try doing it sometime. EDIT: Sorry, I should have been more specific about the pyramid's location. Here are the hieroglyphs, too. http://pid.bungie.org/thepyramid.html Scroll to the bottom and right click on the link to open it in a new tab. Alternatively, here are the separate .gifs. http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph1.gif http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph2.gif http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph3.gif http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph4.gif http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph5.gif http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph6.gif http://pid.bungie.org/images/glyph7.gif Of course, there are seven of them.

We figured that it was about time to share our findings with everyone else. Note that this isn't everything, I'll be adding things from out private conversations when I can. I hope you all enjoy this as much as we do. Ad astra

            • (I decided to do more on the alpha lupi stuff since I wasnt getting anywhere with the Law of the Jungle stuff) I'm either on to something or completely wasting my (and your) time. I need to read it all more but while I'm doing that I'll post the links. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupus_(constellation) which lead me to http://www.cresourcei.org/enumaelish.html First one is just background on the constellation. Down in the mythology and history section it says that the Greek Constellation is probably based on the Babylonian Mad-Dog... seeing as the other constellations (6 of 'em, forming a group of 7 constellations. Anyways, about the constellations, a few of them (they are lupus, Scorpius, circinus, centaurus, Libra, and hydra, there's links to them in the Wikipedia article) are also part of this Babylonian creation myth (this is part of the reason. Why I think I'm getting no where, not all of them have an obvious connection, but I haven't read the whole thing yet, but my mind is flowing real good so I have to get this out now, lol, I'll update later and all) Now, maybe the lupus constellation is not the only thing that is relevant to destiny, maybe these other ones are too, and lupus was just a hint trying to lead us to this, (doubt it but crazier things have happened ) back to reading... On the first "tablet" of the story and at the end...
These she entrusted to his hand as she seated him in the Council: "I have cast for you the spell, exalting you in the Assembly of the gods. To counsel all the gods I have given you full power. Truly, you are supreme, you are my only consort! Your utterance shall prevail over all the Anunnaki!" She gave him the Tablet of Destinies, fastened on his breast: "As for you, your command shall be unchangeable, your word shall endure!" As soon as Kingu was elevated, possessed of the rank of Anu, they decreed the fate for the gods, his sons: "Your word shall make the first subside, (160) Shall humble the `Power-Weapon,' so potent in its sweep!"
I thought this was pretty interesting, lol It might be relevant. OK I'll post this now then update it in a few minutes once I've read more.

                    • I'll throw in my two cents. I've thought for a while that the seven seraphs are the Warminds, spread throughout the solar system to protect the traveler (God). as for the ghost being joyeuse, I think it's likely that we will be in contact with joyeuse but not involved with (wield) it directly. That will help preserve the sense that we're not the only superhero in the multiplayer world. I thought that maybe the masked man is osiris, only because Deej said he was an Npc in one of the mailsacks, and his clothes are pretty Egyptian. Thoughts?

Ok, let's see if I'm following this. My post is kind of long, so I'll stick it in a spoiler.
The Marathon trilogy alluded to the story of Roland and his sword, Durendal. One of your best buds in those games is Durandal, an A.I. The Halo trilogy alluded to Ogier and his sword, Curtana. In Halo your constant companion is Cortana, an A.I. In Destiny there appear to be allusions to the story of Charlemagne and his sword, Joyeuse. [<speculation starts here>] In Destiny, Charlemagne is the name of a Warmind, a construct of the Traveler. During the Golden Age, humanity modeled it's own A.I.s on Charlemagne, building small floating A.I.s that, in the game so far, are known as a "Ghosts". If Destiny is true to form, your constant A.I. companion would be Joyeuse, as Cortana was in Halo and Durandal was in Marathon. Now, according to one legend, the swords Joyeuse, Durendal, and Curtana were actually all the same blade, just reforged throughout history, or they were at least all forged by the same man, Wayland the Smith. ("My name is Cortana, of the same steel and temper as Joyeuse and Durendal." was the inscription Curtana bore.) The legend of the sword(s) seems to begin with Charlemagne, and then it went to Roland, who was a military leader under Charlemagne. Upon Roland's death in 778 a.d., it was passed on to Ogier, who was originally an enemy of Charlemagne. They became allies, however, fighting the Saracens together, and Ogier was eventually knighted by Charlemagne. (I got all this off Wikipedia, and left out several details. It's actually quite an interesting story if you care to piece it together from the Wikipedia articles.) What I noticed: the historical progression of the sword(s) goes Joyeuse, Durendal, Curtana. The progression of A.I.s in Bungie games goes Durandal, Cortana, *Joyeuse*. Why didn't Bungie start at the beginning of the historical progression in the first place? Was that just the way it worked out, or did they have a plan? Why are they going back to the beginning now? Is it a parallel of the Destiny plot, starting again and reclaiming what once was lost? Argh... before I started this post I was wondering if you guys weren't overthinking this whole thing... and now here I am...
this is so close to one of my theories its scary. i also had another theory that there were higher beings call them space gods, that every once in awhile find a solar system and release pandora's box into it or something similar to see if that solar system is worth survival. with pandora's box came the darkness, and hope which was considerably smaller and not as powerful aka the traveller. the fallen (which are our main enemy ) are forces of darkness. When the traveler and the darkness first came into our solar system the darkness ravaged through our solar system destroying worlds. then the traveler finally made its way to earth, the first guardians learnt to harness the space magic that was flooding the solar system and managed to seal the darkness away. cutting off the fallen from their masters and their once noble houses fell and they are now turned into space pirates trying to survive till they are finally reunited with their dark lords. few fallen like rixis still hold a sliver of their dark power and evidence of the darkness own effects are seen in species like the hive and vex. Now we are faced with the potential destruction of the seal and our guardians have to go back into the solar system to find pieces of the key that can shut the seal or reactivate the traveler to help save our world and stamp out the darkness forever. but problems like the fallen and cabal who want to capitalize on our weakened position make the job only suitable for our greatest guardians. wow i am bored but yeah that was one of my theories.

                            • Not sure if this means anything or is pertinent to your studies here, but Bungie uses the dragon as the symbol for the Vanguard achievement in Halo 3. I had no idea why you were talking about dragons (or even half the stuff above) but it's cool nonetheless and I wanted to try to help.
The Osiris myth is the most elaborate and influential story in ancient Egyptian mythology. It concerns the murder of the god Osiris, a primeval king of Egypt, and its consequences. Osiris' murderer, his brother Set, usurps his throne. Meanwhile, Osiris' wife Isis restores her husband's body, allowing him to posthumously conceive a son with her. The remainder of the story focuses on Horus, the product of Isis and Osiris' union, who is first a vulnerable child protected by his mother and then becomes Set's rival for the throne. Their often violent conflict ends with Horus' triumph, which restores order to Egypt after Set's unrighteous reign and completes the process of Osiris' resurrection. The myth, with its complex symbolism, is integral to the Egyptian conceptions of kingship and succession, conflict between order and disorder and, especially, death and the afterlife. It also expresses the essential character of each of the four deities at its center, and many elements of their worship in ancient Egyptian religion were derived from the myth.
He's basically a zombie man who had sex with his living wife. That's gods for ya. As for Set:
Set /sɛt/ or Seth (/sɛθ/; also spelled Setesh, Sutekh, Setekh, or Suty) is a god of the desert, storms, disorder, violence and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion.[1] In Ancient Greek, the god's name is given as Sēth (Σήθ). Set is not however a god to be ignored or avoided, he has a positive role where he is employed by Ra on his solar boat to repel the serpent of Chaos Apep.[2] Set had a vital role as a reconciled combatant.[3] He was lord of the red (desert) land where he was the balance to Horus' role as lord of the black (soil) land.[4]
So Set may be rough around the edges, but he's for the greater good...

                                  • Eh, what exactly am I supposed to be doing? Because I don't see how I can elaborate more on the whole vigilantism/law of the jungle thing, past what we already know. Maybe I'm just not creative enough. I did do some research and I found some mildly interesting stuff but I don't think it helps me with this specifically.
