So here's what I don't get about Sapphire: Why do you want our attention?
Why, if you're so convinced that the flood as a whole, is full of people you consider "intolerable," do you want us to pay attention to you?
Look, I was absent during whatever time Sapphire arose and became hated by "The Flood," but the only things I've seen it do in the time I've been back is post inflammatory threads that you [i]openly[/i] admitted were designed to attract interest.
[i][b]Why?[/b][/i] Do you want to change the culture here? Are you really so fantastically ignorant that you think the arbitrary distinctions between Sapphire's culture and The Flood's culture make Sapphire "correct"? Because all I see is someone whining that the moderators of this site won't force everyone to adapt to their mindset, which wouldn't work even if they did try that. On top of that, for all your supposed "moral superiority," the fact that that the only way you can seem to think of to spread your message is trolling is -blam!-ing pathetic.
Leave or don't, but don't act like the moderators owe you a site that fits your sensitivities. The mute function is a ridiculously great step in that direction anyway, and you piss on it because someone won't press it for you.

Well, Harlow gave his closing statement, so I might as well give mine. To the members of Sapphire: I don't hate Sapphire and I don't hate you; I'm not your enemy. I didn't set out to flame you or bring out hatred against you on purpose, or at least, not without a purpose. I wanted some answers to some very important questions, so I may have held your feet to the fire to get them. The rights of transsexuals, homosexuals, women, and minorities are very important issues. I agree with your leaders on pretty much all of them, and some of them have a very personal meaning to me. This is, perhaps, why I lashed out against your leaders. From my perspective, it appeared that Sapphire was promoting those issues just to get attention for itself. I'd be lying if I said it didn't still seem that way in some sense. Even in this thread, they've stated that any publicity for the group is good publicity. I think this trivializes the issues they promote. Look at all the hatred you've managed to get turned against you. 90% (more in this thread) of the people expressing that sentiment haven't said one word about the causes you claim to stand for. They don't hate you for your purported beliefs, they hate you because of the way you act, and by associating yourself with these causes, you're distributing that hatred to them. Don't assume because you converted one that you didn't alienate five. Regardless, I've said what I wanted to say to your leadership. I don't think the "any attention is good attention" is respectful to this community, or to yours. How are you not supposed to feel like a sucker when your leader posts "Ha-Ha we got members from the troll anyway!"? I've also expressed to Jay that I think tolerance is about more than shaming the intolerant. See the sub-thread of Felicia's thread that "inspired" this thread if you care about that. In conclusion, I don't see a reason why Sapphire and the Bnet community can't coexist, and I don't see a reason why Harlow and Jay can't be here, and if they really believe what they claim to believe, I don't think they'll leave. I feel like I understand the hatred better now as well, mainly because I can see that it isn't one-sided. We've all acted shitty towards each other, but I don't see why that has to be the end of us. I also issue one last challenge Harlow and Jay; if you really want to make this about the issues and not about you, you can start by showing some humility towards the people that hate you. It's not like you have anything to lose, and you just might gain some respect.

I never hated Sapphire, got invited there over a year or two ago, posted for awhile, but got bored because barely anyone would ever reply to what i posted. Sure i got disappointed that i was taking time to actually try to just get ignored, but i never left, it's good to have a connection like that, regardless of whether some might hate the people in the group or not, but i myself have no problems with it.

2 RepliesI joined Sapphire, gave it a shot, didn't like it myself. I found they were rough on the new users in terms of letting them become "friends," and most of the users spent a lot of time groveling at the feet of other, more popular users. I didn't enjoy it in the slightest, though that was about half a year before we switched to b.next, so things have probably changed a little. I don't know though, I never pay attention to that sort of thing anyway.

It's amazing how people take some irrelevant group on a game website seriously. No one has any reason to care about it. If it was 4chan or reddit, sure, but its a group with hardly any members and it will never be relevant on the Internet by anyone's standards.

Its funny ... the "[i]new and improved (lol)[/i]" bungie.net lasted about 6 months ... and that was after bungie dumped years worth of hate threads (didn't work with the reach beta forum, why would it work with anything else??) But honestly - it is not going to change. One quick read of the subject line of any discussion will tell you that - hell even Activision is setting up a new forum for Destiny.
