Yes, another one. I am just curious!
I know that there are a number of agnostics and atheists in this forum. While I am the polar opposite, I am curious about one thing.
What if, one day all of what I believe happens? Judgment comes, the Anti Christ rises, The Rapture happens? All of that stuff that was foretold in Revelations and the other books happens and all that you have proclaimed to be a fantasy turns out to be actually very real. What is your reaction?
-
Atheists aren't anti-religion just to be so. They take proof into account (ideally). If new proof came to light, they would change their beliefs.
-
What if I am? I don't believe in God, and I don't think I'll get any points for fake belief.
-
Well I just be -blam!-ed I guess, Nothing I can do about it. (•.•!)
-
I thought Jesus loved me no matter what
-
Pic somewhat related I'd be curious about how it all happened.
-
What if the Apocalypse is just a super team up of all the gods? Like an Avengers/Justice League of America type deal but with deities. Zues with Vishnu with Allah with Odin etc...

I'd first take my billion and dollars and infinite girlfriends on my wicked sweet yacht, it would be diamond encrusted with a jet engine so we can go super fast. On board I'd keep my lightsabers and unicorn ranch because those are awesome, and I'd battle dragons that I keep in there on Uniback with my laser swords. Eff would that be awesome. I HOPE I'm wrong man, because then things would be way cooler.

I see it this way. If you live a good life, without believing in a specific deity or following a certain religion which turns out to be correct, then you should get to go to heaven/equivalent for being a good person. If a good person would seriously be sent to hell simply for not accepting there is a god/following the right religion then that god is not deserving of worship or praise in the first place. Also consider this - God creates all life including the nastiest pieces of human filth imaginable - Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Murderers, Rapists, Paedophiles, Politicians and Lawyers. And Satan punishes them for their crimes. So who creates evil? (Free will doesn't count because who gave humans free will?) and who punishes/cleanses that evil? So really Lucifer is the good guy here, cleaning up after the big cheese's Fubars. (I'd actually like some discussion on that last part, who is evil God or the Devil)

Edited by God: 7/17/2013 1:39:25 AMWhat if you're wrong?

OP is Sum Ting Wong.
-
-blam!- you God, it was clearly an unfair test you give to everyone and you already knew that. That's all I would say, but that will never happen.
-
Admit I was wrong then march up to the pearly gates and right up to God and nut punch him for "abandoning" us.
-
Go to a mental hospital.
-
I'm pretty much fucked. But oh well, i knew what I was getting into when I signed up.
-
Probably say, "shit." Then get sent to hell, but solidly believing that my preference to stay to my own path was a better decision then suppressing what I truly believed. If that gets me sent to hell, then I was doomed from the start.
-
What if you're wrong? What if Jesus was a fraud, or Mohammed was right? What if the Ancient Mesopotamians were right? You're an atheist, you're simply slightly and illogically more selective than myself.
-
In my opinion it will not happen, why? Because Christianism or Catholicism are built based on ancient believes, a mix of Norse, Greek, Egyptian mythologies. If something were to happen, it would be more likely to happen what is told with very first and most ancient religions. (Greek, Norse or Egyptian myths).

Edited by RomanGladiator7: 7/17/2013 12:05:46 AMNo. Only crazy brainwashed Catholics believe in that magic fairy tale bullshit. Harry -blam!-ing Potter might as well be reality to you people. The rapture will not happen, and Jesus ain't coming back. You OP are one of these paranoid christians who won't even kiss his fiance. Lighten up a little.
-
Well..im not. :)
-
There's no evidence for and evidence for the contrary. This is just a reworded Pascal's Wager.
-
If I was wrong I'd just accept it. Frankly I'd be happy if Christianity turned out to be right. Living a life of eternal paradise sounds like a good thing. Then again you have hell, so I guess it's hit or miss.

C.S. Lewis postulates that such people will simply continue to disbelieve. You should read his novel, The Great Divorce. It explores this concept.

How do you know you believe in the right god? How do you know yours is right, not the Polynesian gods? Or Norse gods? Or Hindus?
