What engine do you prefer playing?

So first things first. I know this is cOLD and that I am way behind, but I just spent 2 years not playing video games and now I can again. Anyways, back to the point. Today I just bought Halo Anniversary. I love it. I love the love they put into it and didn't just lazily do an HD reskinning. But I also find myself switching over to the classic engine for extended periods of time out of pure nostalgia. I enjoy the new look but the classic view just brings back all kinds of great memories. Including all night system link parties with the original. It's funny, I think I would be fine with playing it completely classic style (the cutscenes are even done in classic!) So my question is this, when you play(ed) Halo Anniversary, did you mainly play in the new engine, the classic engine, or both pretty evenly? Also, I don't know if I like how they did the multiplayer. I wish they would allow access to all the other Halo Reach maps so I wouldn't have to have my Reach disc to play those ones (I am aware that there is a map pack for $15, but I don't have my reach disc anymore. It's in a box 1,500 miles away.) :( What do y'all think of the multiplayer? TLDR: What is/was your preferred engine to play Halo Anniversary, and what do you think about how they did the multiplayer?

It's the same engine. They just did a texture update. I personally like to switch back and forth between the new graphics and the old. And you are a little late to be able to play all the maps you had to pay for. 343 removed Anniversary BTB last August during the infamous August Update. I loved the multiplayer. Playing Anniv. BTB on Headlong was awesome. It was pretty much the only game type I played from February 2012 until August 2012.

  • Oh a Halo thread? To answer the engine question; there is no new engine. The engine is the same; they just updated the textures and put Reach models in. The engine is 100% the same. Anyways; when I had it I played in the new graphics; it's why I got it. As for Multiplayer; they didn't. That is all I have to say about that.

  • Frostbite is on of the better engines. So is the unreal engine.

    • Well in all honesty we are still on the same engine it has just been modified out the ass. I really wish halo would stick to its halo CE/2 MP roots. I miss where each weapon had a purpose and the plasma weapons had stun/push back effects. Not to mention the plasma was actually useful in CE and at this point i think the EMP thing needs to go (it was never used in canon i thing so no worries). Vehicular combat left halo after halo 2 and i honestly think that had such a profound affect on MP. now no matter how large the map we pretty much do rebel city fighting as the large-scale vehicle battles are nonexistent.

    • I play with the new but switch to classic just to compare. I was very impressed. Probably the best remake of all times.

    • I played through the Library in classic. It was too damn bright in the new engine which killed the atmosphere.

Classic engine during the tunnel run since there's a graphical glitch when hit by sentinel beams and needler rounds. Everything else I use the new engine.
