This is very sad but unfortunately not uncommon. How could have this been avoided?
-
Always said walmart is evil. That's pretty bad, though. I hate people.
-
Horrible atrocity. /s
-
is she ok?
-
How could have this been avoided?
Parent should have been watching her kid better I guess. How should every kidnapping be avoided? I'm sure the answer is always the same.
-
Execute that sonofabitch.
-
Well since the guy had been convicted before for -blam!-ing kidnapping, the obvious solution is not to be so damn lenient with sex offending child abductors. Then he does the crime again and people are surprised?
-
That's just sick not surprised the kidnapper is in his 50's hope her family is doing ok
-
I hear the deals at wal-mart are a steal.
-
Which further supports my position that only terrible people go to Walmart.
-
You ever post happy things friend? Everytime I see you post its about someone dying
-
Why the hell was this guy released...?
-
How horrible...
Charish Lilly Perriwinkle, who had been wearing an orange sundress, purple flip-flops and a pink ribbon
That sounds like this cutest little kid ever. The guy only got a year for torturing a child? Should've been in jail for life.

Edited by DeclinedA01: 6/23/2013 7:16:32 PMWhy does this stuff always happen in my state?
-
This guy should have been in jail, I don't know why he was released. I do want to clear some stuff up though. 1. Being a registered sex offender can result from pissing in public or domestic violence. 2. This should be a reminder to adults that you shouldn't openly trust strangers, no matter how good their intentions may be. 3. This is a tragic event and people shouldn't be calling the parents stupid, or blaming the system. People like this tend to be very well spoken and intelligent, so they are generally very difficult to pick out of a crowd.
Smith is a registered sex offender.

He identified Smith, "a man with a very extensive criminal history" that included a kidnapping conviction, as a suspect.

According to records from the Duval County Clerk of Courts, Smith's most recent convictions occurred last year on charges from 2009 for unlawful impersonation of a public employee and aggravated child abuse by willful torture, for which he was sentenced to a year in county jail.
This ass hat should have never been released from jail. He should have rooted to death in prison. Good god we suck at handling these pieces of shit.

Parents of the year right here! Poor little girl :(
-
Just another reason why I hate Walmart.
-
Banwalmart
-
Heart breaking. :'(
-
Normally stuff like this rolls off my back but that title actually made me pretty sad. I feel for the family and others involved. It's just a shame things like this happen so often.
-
Kill everyone involved. Everyone.

Edited by brandorobot: 6/22/2013 10:29:54 PMIt doesn't seem like they've even looked at security footage which seems like the obvious thing to do.

-blam!-ing Walmart
-
Asking how this can be avoided is a pointless exercise because it literally cannot be avoided unless every human being is monitored 24/7 for their entire lives. Say your prayers for the dead girl if you're so inclined, or give her a moment of silence or whatever, but otherwise you just have to move on.

Maybe just maybe if the parent was doing their damn job this wouldn't have happened.
