So Disappointed...Destiny sounds exactly like Halo!

If you clicked on this post thinking, yes I've noticed the same thing...we need to talk. If on the other hand, you've developed a nervous tic from seeing posts like this and felt the need to set me straight, don't worry; you are in a safe place and can back me up. With the limited info about Destiny that has been released, longtime fans have notice some similarities between the franchises. People have made observations about our enemies being bi-pedal aliens and that Vex look like Elites. Personally, I think this Cabal pic looks very similar to a Hunter, but I'm not worried that Destiny is going to be a repeat of Halo. Why? One of the things that I appreciate about Bungie is that they create amazing universes and mythologies that I want to escape to and explore. This is part of what made Halo such an amazing game. Here's where people get into trouble. Every universe and every story told are going to use certain themes and elements in their creation, and good stories will often have similar themes. However, just because there are similar themes and elements does not mean that the experience will be similar. For example, if you read two different books that have a spy as a central character and they are both set in Eastern Europe, it does not mean the story or your experience reading those books will be the same. It's the combination of themes and their execution that define the experience. At this point, we know even less about how the game is going to function than the broader themes. So, although there are some common themes, (space, alien races, ai's, whatever else you've noticed) I believe this game will feel substantially different than Halo. Bungie has shown high degree of innovation in creating games and I have no doubt that their execution in Destiny is going to be groundbreaking. I know people are still going submit posts comparing Destiny's and Halo's similarities and making the conclusion that it's won't be substantially different, but hopefully this post will spare some people from making that mistake. [Edit: A frequent comment about this post is that sarcasm can be difficult to pick up in writing. My intent was not to leave people confused, so for clarification, the only thing that is sarcastic in this OP is the title. Everything else is my opinion. If you are wondering why I used a sarcastic title, please see my lengthy response to that question below. It's pretty easy to spot. Thank you for all your comments and support!]
