How long should the average PC last?

I got one for Xmas because i have no money it died in a month. I know that's really soon but my old PCs would last about 2 years. By the way i'm talking about laptops.

  • for a PC, 5-6 years, more if it's custom built and upgraded. I'd give a laptop about 3 at most. All have lower quality/power parts, and all run hotter than PCs for obvious reasons. Batterys arn't the most reliable power sources, as they have inconsistent voltage outputs, when compared to that of a power supply for a PC. Keyboards can wear, and on budget models the keyboards are shockingly poor.

  • Well a hell of a lot longer than one month, that's for sure. 5 years seems like a good life, though many people upgrade before that long.
