How many of you just like the idea of finding a gun and making it your own?

I mean sure, a crafted gun would be better, but there's just something about stumbling upon a unique (Not rare unique) weapon on the floor, buying ammo for it, and making it your own "companion".

  • I love the idea of having a gun that is "my gun." As a gun owner I can say that nothing is better than the feel of your own gun in your hands. I love knowing all the little quirks of my guns like if I don't give the mag a good hard slap on my AR then it won't chamber the first round, or that my Henry has a small chip on the front sight post that can make it difficult to hit a small target, or that my ancient Stevens .22 is the most accurate rifle ever built and it will hit on the mark, every time, guaranteed. If Bungie can find a way to capture that (and I'm sure they can) it will be amazing and it would certainly be a first in the gaming industry. I'm really looking forward to see what they do.

    • This whole concept of "finding a gun to make your own" is a great concept indeed. But its more than just customizing it to make it yours. Its more than showing it off to your faction members. Its a legacy -- one that either you make with it or one that it made with another and you now carry it. A perfect example is Glamdring, Narsil and Orcrist from Lord of the Rings. Each weapon while being particularly unique has a story behind it. Glamdring (The Foe-Hammer), Orcrist (The Goblin Cleaver) and etc. They were acknowledged and feared for there history in battle. I want my gun to be to the community as what these weapons were to Gandalf, company, and his foes when their eyes laid upon them for the first time.

It would be nice! And I like the idea that Toxic_snomen has about naming our weapons =D! It would be awesome to be able to take parts of that gun you found and use it on a weapon you already have!! To be able to make it better just by finding a used gun on the ground and being able to give it a name.... I think I'm going to get emotionally involved with my own guns xD!

        • I really hope we can name weapons. I want to gather an arsenal of rare weapons that are really good, most likely 1 of each kind (shotgun, sniper, ect...) and I plan on naming each one, after the 7 deadly sins based in Christianity. I think it would be cool to use a super weapon named "Greed" or "Envy" or "Gluttony". Also have been watching alot of Fullmetal Alchemist :) Don't copy me, I know where you live.

        • I'm hoping that you'll be able to find a gun and upgrade it by paying a craftsman to add attachments. Kind of hoping self-crafting isn't in the game to be honest, but finding guns is a must!

        • I like the idea, simply. Moreover I don't want to see what happened in Borderlands 1 & 2 happen in Destiny where there are a handful of power guns that end up being coppied and handed around. I like the idea of a gun growing with you, that you find a set up for a type of gun that works for you and you stick with it. I'd like to see customization options that allow you to maximize things like recoil reduction if, a variety of optics, suppressors, triggers (auto, semi, burst), barrels, stocks. I think what could make a really interesting gun concept is that your guns have AI, perhapse you can purchase a variety of types of AI who coud be of varying complexity. The longer you stick with an AI the more atuned it becomes to your play style and it levels up with you providing various upgrades (R.O.F., ammo types, faster reload, faster scope in/out, electronic warfare capabilities). You could apply the AI to helmets... I know this is getting dangerously simillar to Cortana, but I don't think they got everything they could have out of her, or couldn't because of tech restrictions. I'd like to see an AI that plays an active roll. The better your AI, and the higher its level the more it can do for you, and the more effective it becomes. The Best AI's learn more quickly, can multi task, and fulfil mor sophisticated functions. An entry level AI would be more specific, offensive AI that tracks targets and manages amutition, a defensive AI that manages shields and administers first aid, a Recon AI that extends sensors and provides cyber warfare capabilities. An advanced AI might eventually do all of the above, in time.

            • That's an excellent idea! Like, it could be any gun but your customizations to it and name make it special to you. When "the strongest gun in the game" just doesn't matter, but the gun you've shared your experiences does, and you keep it close to you. Yeah, that's a good idea and if you ever drop it (somehow) you could maybe put a tracker or a beacon of the whereabouts that you dropped it and can go back to pick it up, so that it's not lost forever.

            • I dont think i will grow too attached to a weapon because in Skyrim you had to constantly switch out and change your weapon unitil you found the best weapon of all. Same case in the Call of Duty games.

              • I'd like to see both. And a unique weapon could still be able to be customized, adding new sites or attachments in general. And being able to name your weapons is essential I'd say.

In my opinion I love the idea of customising guns, but depending on the gun would change wether I change that gun or not. In opinion I want my main gun to be a 3 burst rifle with an average scope mand long distance firering with acurasy so sort of like the battle riffle in halo. I am still desiding on clips and stuff in case i can edit out that part.

I would like it if it was only if you couldn't do anything to weapons that are rare or anything higher than that. Weapons that are common or anything lower than that can be messed around with. I just wouldn't like to see someone butcher an awesome weapon with different dies and all that crap. I'd like to see dies and camos and all the stuff, attachments mods and everything in between but I do not want anyone to mess with rare weapons or higher. That would suck.

                • Hate me if you want, but I don't want there to be crafting at all. You find guns and you find attachments/mods. That's all I want.

                  • I LOVE the idea of taking a gun you already like...then having a plethora of customization options to make it YOURS. Long as all the "customization" options are cosmetic only and mods would be what make the gun more powerful....then no matter how you mod the gun, it can always look how you want it to, then everyone will have a unique gun endgame =)

So if I loot a nice revolver, I'd love to slap a sick paint job on it and maybe throw on a larger cylinder with recoil compensator; and then I'd show it off to one of the Hive before I capped it in the face for drooling over my baby.

                      • I like the idea of finding a base gun and having it grow with you. I would love to be able to add parts to it, change scopes, clips, etc. Some combo of finding and crafting I think is the best idea.
