From a marketing standpoint, this isn't gonna fly too well as long as I can figure. If you're an xbox person, and all your friends get it for the playstation, that puts you under pressure to get a new console. This sort of pressure pushes people to go out and get said console, at least sometimes. Not all the times. It's one of the details that helps in specific situations, but I know if all my friends had a PS3 and popular games, I'd want to get a PS3 as well as the games they'd have. This can go the same for Microsoft, Nintendo, and whatnot. There could also be the issue of technology.
