I mean, they have a ton of badass exclusives for their platform coming down the pipe (Phantasy Star Online 2, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, just to name a few), and any time a game comes out as console only, they go batshit insane. It's like those people who pitch a fit over Halo only being on Microsoft consoles, or Mario games only being on Nintendo consoles. Exclusivity happens man, it's part of life, it's part of having a competitive marketplace. If you want a game bad enough, go buy the platform, if not, be happy with what you've got. What is the point of complaining about it?
-
I like consoles better simply because it's 10000000000x easier to set up a private match.
-
um yeah ive never heard someone complain and whine that halo isnt on pc. sure ive seen people ask but they dont cry about it. haha could you imagine if gta 5 was pc only i bet the console gamers would be pretty pissed. so gta pc players have a point there because gta is part of pc

Edited by Rex2: 2/18/2013 11:42:02 PMSimple: the gaming industry gravitates towards the money. The money is in mobile platforms and consoles due to ease of entry. The PC platform is the furthest from being consumer friendly (let's be frank, you must be at least a little tech savvy in some way to be a PC gamer). As a result, the PC platform receives many games which are clearly not catered to the platform (be it due to controls, FOV, graphic settings, etc). Of course, Steam has done an excellent job of bringing down the barrier of entry to PC gaming (workshop, Big Picture, etc), and looking into the future, I think Steam + PC gaming will definitely offer people who are yet to experience PC gaming a very compelling alternative to next Xbox/PS4. But in the end, it's all about the games. No point in limiting yourself to one platform if the games you want to play are not on that platform.

I blame this shitty new breed of PC gamers; people who have only joined the "master race" recently and have started acting like arrogant dickheads. PCs have and will always be the best gaming platform, but it seems normal to want to hate on console gamers nowadays despite nothing being provoked. I don't even think sticking to one platform is a good idea anyway, I own a good PC, PS3, Wii, Vita, and a 3DS. To primarily console gamers I say this, don't generalize us all, PC gamers are by and large a mature friendly playerbase. And to PC gamers, drop the "master race" shit if you haven't already, it's stupid.
-
I'm on both. I very much enjoy both. I game for fun, and I find FPS's online so much more comfortable with a controller. But on a PC you will just get slaughtered. Or owned by try hards who just spent £800 on a PC and then spend their life on it. Graphics don't make for fun gameplay, and I find proud PC gamers a very big problem currently faced by humanity. They ignore and twist facts and truths, such as the BUT STEAM R CHEEPER argument. Fanboys of anything suck. PC ones are just more vocal because they are all obsessed with their computers.

Edited by cynra: 2/19/2013 6:52:45 AMAs someone who plays both PC games and console games, I see benefit in both platforms. I also think that complaining about what platform a game comes out on is ridiculous. You can be upset about a game being platform-exclusive, but as Xwing said, it is part of having a competitive marketplace. If all games were platform-agnostic, there would be little incentive for people to buy one console over the other. Business is business, and sometimes the best business choice is not the best choice in the eyes of certain consumers. They have the right to be upset, but to be annoying about they feel simply paints a bad image for PC gamers in general.
-
I primarily play my games on PC but I too hate "proud pc gamers" who think consoles are disgusting and they won't even talk to people who play on consoles. To me, those people are idiots. I have a gaming PC but also own a PS3 and spend quite a bit of time on it as well enjoying games I can't get for the PC platform. To me, whatever you prefer playing on that's what you should play on. And anyone who holds anything against you for it are dumb. Real "gamers" enjoy games on any platform.
I absolutely despise PC elitists. I mean, its okay to play PC games (I occasionally do so myself) but denouncing all consoles and the people who play them is just wrong.
+1 internets for this guy.
Cyberpunk 2077
That isn't a PC exclusive, it's also on next-gen consoles too.
-
A better question would be why are console players such pussies.

IGN reported Haloz 1-3 may be coming to Steam...

You guys are so mean, we're not whiny! Leave us alone!
It's like those people who pitch a fit over Halo only being on Microsoft consoles, or Mario games only being on Nintendo consoles. Exclusivity happens man, it's part of life, it's part of having a competitive marketplace.
I feel like the main issue here is that Destiny is not exclusive to just one console. Halo was bound to the Xbox because of the agreement between Bungie and Microsoft. Mario is a Nintendo exclusive because it was made by Nintendo itself. You'll notice that Destiny is coming out for both Xbox and Playstation, so it's not "exclusive" to one section of the market because there's no real restrictions being placed on how Bungie can market the game. I don't think Activision would hold them back from creating a PC port, as we've seen from their previous publications they're more than welcome to the idea of having a game sell on every front. Anyway, the point of complaining about it is to show Bungie that there is an interest from the PC market for their game, which they CAN do if they pull their resources and actually attempt to do so.
-
The problem is that ports tend to be god awful which is a slap in the face when you have the best hardware. For every Devil May Cry 4, there's a dozen... well, Devil May Cry 3's.
-
Everyone needs something to whine about these days.
-
The Witcher 3 isn't an exclusive, and I don't think Cyberpunk is either. Outside of RTS/Strategy games, the PC has very few big budget exclusives these days. Though the number of console exclusives are dropping too.
-
I'm pretty sure console gamers whine more in game chat than anyone else in general
-
Phantasy Star Online 2.
It's not an exclusive: -iOS. -Android. -PlayStation Vita.
-
exclusives are stupid arguing about video game platforms is stupid you're stupid
-
The thing about the PC's have better graphics + performance argument is that it's not true on many PCs. I play a lot of games on my PC, but I don't think I've ever had a PC game that my computer could play as smoothly as a console without every graphical setting on low, and even then lot's of the time they're still pretty clunky. Part of that is because I play on a laptop instead of a desktop. I also don't want to put any money or time into upgrading my computer so it can run games better. That's also true for many other people when it comes to games for PC. If you have a console that runs well and can play a game smoothly, why spend extra to getyour PC to do the same?
-
Because they spent hundreds on something a console can do and they are desperate to justify their purchase.
-
I Exclusivity happens
1. Destiny isn't exclusive 2. How will they know that there's a significant interest in Destiny within the PC gaming community if they never say anything?
-
IMO, there are Pros and Cons for PC and Gaming Consoles. PC's provide better graphics and performance in game, and have more in depth controls sometimes and mods are more freely available etc, whilst Consoles have a standardised feel to them, everybody has a level playing field of the same gear (okay, things like headsets nowadays etc are different but nevertheless) and the controller is an easier way to play. I prefer PC, I spent £1100 on my PC and I'm glad with the purchase, however I do also have a 360 and play 360 exclusives on it (ie when I can't use the PC). I really don't care for platform elitism though.
Because building games to fit on 7+ year old systems doesn't feel right.
Well said.

Whining? I am not whining, I am complaining, do you want to hear whining?

Because they're being oppressed by the Evil Casuals from Planet Zarg (coming soon to a theater near you).
