[/quote]It's a toss up when it comes to Windows 7 apparently and I'm confident it's going to turn out to be a toss up for Windows 8 as well. I always get random frame rate drops on a PC that plays anything that's out on the market today perfectly at max settings. (Except for things like Anti-Aliasing when it comes to Battlefield 3.) Point is, it's horrendously optimized and [i]most[/i] the complaints coming from people saying they're experiencing "lag" in the game are not caused by their hardware. It's the game's fault and acting like it's something wrong isn't right. It might work fine for you but there is a major problem for [i]plenty[/i] of people that has everything to do with the game and not their PCs.[/quote] Here's the thing, I'm almost positive that the issues with Halo 2 and Windows 7 are a result of OEM installs which may have weird drivers. The OEM install of Windows 7 on my Alienware laptop couldn't run Halo 2 Vista. But then a clean install of Windows 7 using a retail copy, ran Halo 2 Vista just fine on the exact same hardware. The same goes with Windows 8. So far, everyone I've talked to say they can run Halo 2 just fine on Windows 8. There are currently no OEM versions of Windows 8 yet which might explain why I haven't heard of any Halo 2 issues with Windows 8.
