•
Posted by: Casey
Posted by: GothGuy
Posted by: Capt Sensible No one will remember Linkin Park in 20 years - we'll all still be listening to Zep & The Eagles.
Actually, this is how I think it breaks down: Radio Stations, Record Labels, and the Music world in general is ruled by money. Currently, the people with money are, say, 35-45 years old, and thanks to this Radio Stations play what sells (stuff from the 70's - 80's). Come twenty years from now, radio stations will be playing the stuff that's from the 90's and 00's. When Classic Rock began, it was new. Duh. Basically, Classic Rock got the Cold Shoulder; one was "weird" to like it. Simply put: history is repeating itself.
Hmm... If the target generation is 35-45 years old, then why are the majority of the sales coming from people who are younger than that? Hmmm...d'you think it's because younger kids are interested in classic rock, too?
Well the younger generation is the main market because all of those 30-40 year olds have settled down and have kids, and they pass on their musical prefference to their kids.
