Any of the short story crowd here?

I wrote a small segment tonight, and I was curious if anyone else was up and stirring.

 •
Posted by: ObbiQuiet To give background: My main antagonist is not myself. It's the mental image of myself, or the self associated with my avatar. When you see my name imagine my avatar. ---------- There was a deliciously pink cloud. It bubbled, frothed, seethed and then split into a thousand golden penguins. They danced the clever dance of joy. Oh, how well they danced! So clever! So joyous! Behind them an expanse of stars spun and sparkled in the night sky. Everything glittered, sparkled, and was very, very happy. Darkness fell. A deep, seething flame enveloped those once happy, golden little penguins. They began to wail in agony and pain as they were slowly turned to ash. Darkness enclosed all around. It constricted those happy, glittering stars until they were dark spots of rust, dying from an evil rot. The void closed closer and closer until there was nothing left. From behind the blanket of black grew a sudden din of blaring fury. Obbi woke with a snort, sat up, hit her head, then fell back asleep. The penguins were screaming. They waddled away from a terrible monster. It rose from the horizon like the morning sun and it burned with a dark red flame. They shrieked and knew they could not escape. The evil would consume them all and end their vile, putrid little dance! Oh, how bad they danced! So putrid! So vile! Obbi giggled slightly in her sleep as the noise sounded again. She hated being interrupted in the middle of good dreams. Her eyes opened groggily as she rose to consciousness; and with consciousness came a realization of two things: firstly, an alarm was sounding; secondly, she had hit her head very hard. Unfortunately she had sprung to action after realizing number one, but before taking into account number two. She slid herself from the air shaft and pummeled to the floor - which she had also just noticed was particularly hard. Edit: Fixed spelling errors.
Interesting story...I feel kinda bad for imagining penguins trying to waddle away from a giant fire demon and laughing :(
