One hit and you are back to normal damage and your shield is gone. You have to completely avoid all damage, every bullet, creature, axe, midget, absolutely everything to maintain the damage and be OP'd. Considering it's actual shield amount is quite pathetic, it is really just a trade off and quite fair.
