Insurrectionist ideology, any good points?
Yes i know some Insurrectionist groups are not good, said groups have resorted to terrorism, intentionally targeting civilians instead of just the UNSC military. However i don't think all Insurrectionists are like that.
And i do think the basic ideology of Insurrectionism have some good points. That colonies should have the option for self-rule, instead of being controlled by the UNSC/UEG. Only one true government for all of mankind is not a good idea (different human governments would also mean the dirty ONI has less control over mankind).
Of course that may be not such a good thing while the UNSC is fighting to save Mankind from extinction (cause more chaos then is already needed), and i disagree with any Insurrectionists fighting the UNSC during the Covenant War.
However maybe there could be a time in human history, sometime after the War, in which some colonies, can become independent.
What do you think?
Some might say that because the Covenant Alien races still exist, that Mankind needs one government if they ever need to fight the aliens again, but i disagree. Just because there is a possible future threat from the Alien species they know about, doesn't mean Mankind should be destined to be under control by 1 totalitarian govt for the rest of the species existence.

I really can't agree with the Insurrection at all as all of the colonies were already pretty much self-ruling, the only real ties they had with the UNSC was the military garrison that were sometimes put there to protect the colonies, and having to pay taxes to the government and the UNSC being able to call for the current leadership of a planet to be disbanded and be replaced with new leaders if the other guys really weren't doing their jobs or doing them at all well. The individual planets had about as much authority and self-government as the states in the United States. The only reason the Insurrectionists came along was because they wanted completely and total independence and to set up radically different (awful) forms of government...and they really can't have independence as the UNSC/UEG itself is what founded the colonies anyway, they were all funded and provided for from the government's pockets. And when the initial dissidents came along the UEG/UNSC tried to reach a satisfactory conclusion for everybody, but the Innies turned to violence and started the whole thing. So nah, I really don't see to much good about them at all or worthy of supporting them, the only good "Insurrections" actually up and left UNSC space and went off to form their own places...like the group Admiral Preston Cole wound up going off to in the end. The rest were all about trying to actively destroy the UNSC in any way they could and actively bombing civilian targets, often with nukes and nuclear based weapons, essentially just for -blam!-z and giggles.
