Creationism
Am I the only one who thinks that creationism is stupid?
I mean seriously, evolution is a fact. How the -blam!- can one think that they can disprove it by hogwash? I'm pretty certain that it's obvious at this point that the Holy Books are blatantly wrong about everything.

9 Replieswhat you don't understand is that neither evolution nor any religious view are proven facts, just theories, there is no official proof for either of them. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, only the small-minded think otherwise, or they're just rebellious teens that didn't like going to church, like most "atheists" i see around.

Originally, the opportunity to partake in religious discussions/debates on the mains was exciting for me, but after witnessing the extreme saturation of individuals who haven't the slightest idea what they're talking about, my interest has severely declined.

Creationism is a false, and stupid belief. Evolution is fact until someone proves a demonstrable theory that can prove otherwise.

9 RepliesAlthough I agree with you, you seem to forget that evolution is not a fact, it is a theory which has not been proven wrong. People have their beliefs, you have no right to call them stupid. You bring no evidence and all you do is call them stupid, and all the books are full of lies. Just shut up and stop looking for and argument.

"How in the hell did all of this get here?" With nothing but what they see, touch, taste, hear and have experienced in their memory... what sort of answer do you expect them to come up with and what do you think they will do when they are asked similar questions by their children? People of the past weren't stupid. They were human beings, just like you and I. Same genetics, same sized brains, same capacity to know, learn and adapt, and they had what they had to work with. The fact that they survived and allowed you and I to exist, tells me that they did "pretty well for themselves" since I doubt that you or I would be very successful if we were suddenly dropped into their situation. Do you know how to chip stone into an edged tool? If not, you'd probably die. And that (in that situation and context) would mean that you were "too stupid" to survive.

I agree with what Recon said, but I feel like the OP is more so speaking of modern instances of Young-Earth Creationism. In that case, I don't find it "stupid," because I feel that's too harsh a word, but I do regard the assumption as incredibly ignorant and unsubstantiated, only brought about by strict adherence to religious texts. In this modern day and age, almost all forms of science can vouch for an Earth far, far older than 6000 years old. It's simply nonsense.
