How would you compare smartphone users to gamers?

Now I realize this is a generalization, but I was thinking about this today and I think it's a valid comparison. Outliers, of course, are not included. To me, I think iPhone users are like casual gamers. Casual gamers pick up a game like Halo, play it, have a great time with it, but don't care much about the nuts and bolts. Everything works when they turn it on, they enjoy themselves, and they feel like they are part of a larger mainstream culture. And so they are highly likely to become "fans" and loyally purchase the next version when it comes out without complaint or second thought, regardless of quality or improvements. Android users are like hardcore gamers who "play for fun." Kind of like brigadiers or colonels in Halo. They are more into the technicalities and specifications, and they generally want to be in the top third (approximately) when it comes to efficiency and equipment, but they still want to be able to relate to their more casual friends without seeming uppity. They'll use a particular product when it meets their demands, but if something better comes along, they won't hesitate to move on -- as long as most of their friends do, too. Windows Phone users are like gamers who play at the highest levels. "Smartphone 50s," if you will. They are the innovators who will invent new techniques and better ways of doing things, and will only use the highest-quality products to accomplish this end. They pride themselves not on engaging in a way that fits in with other people's products, but rather that outperforms them. These users will generally try to explain why their way is better, backing it up with evidence rather than emotion, even when those arguments fall upon deaf ears. They pave the way for others who follow in their footsteps, but remain a small, segmented group, often shunned by the majority. At least, that's how I see it. Once again, I know there are outliers both in terms of smartphone users and gaming. But in general, what are your thoughts on this interesting analogy?
