They lived, as their name says, on the island of Flores. As for mythical little people, I don't think they are related to -blam!- floresiensis. So many cultures from around the world have mischievous little people running around, even in places where a real small hominid lived. As far as human evolution in general in the Halo universe goes, it's frustrating to someone actually in school for biological anthropology because it seems so silly to think that all the other species of humans were created because of some silly "devolution" concept.
