Why is this Brute so damn big?

2:22 shows chief manhandling a giant Brute.... Obviously in game they weren't that big, but did 343i take the size of that brute from canon/legends? I remember reading somewhere that the average Brute size was 14 feet tall... Seems about right in that video, though I find it hard to believe that humanity fought apes that big.
I don't remember which book, but there was a part where John took on a Brute his size and barely won, perhaps chieftains are just abnormally huge?

If it's even close to that i will be happy, but it is his cutscene height that is canon in which he looks just about that size.[/quote] The thing that kind of bothers me is the fact that in the cutscene in Forerunner, Chief is maybe half or a little over half Didact's size. If Didact is around 15/16 feet in size, Chief shouldn't be that tall compared to him. I'm not entirely sure.
