Right now Bungie.net doesn't have a very good measure of letting users track who's sticking around and who's not. You're thinking purely on a visual basis of who you see the most and who you do not. A lot of people seem to go dark and disappear, some really do, some are throw away accounts and some creep into the lesser known areas of Bungie.net. But I don't think it's necessary to assume that masses of people are simply going to disappear. Once can infer that right now plenty of people are absent but hey... way till information on this game comes out. You'll be beating people away with a stick...
