All I want for bungie day is....

Sketch mentioned that the 7th Column will be getting lovin’ in due time. But I think it’s time to think a little into the future and discuss what the current problems we face with the 7th Column. Not the council that can be discussed here, but I would really like to know what problems we’re facing as Chapter Founders. A couple of things I’d like to see: -Better/more organized way of news, and more icons. Maybe have a top story feature? -A little upgrade to the forums, maybe be able to sticky posts? (Sure this would probably take some bandwidth, but I can dream right? Or will the server explode?)

 • Well yoozel, I agree with the top story and sticky posts, I would love that. Maybe a multiple poll function? A second poll? It isn't absolutely necessary but there have been a few times I had 2 good poll ideas and had to choose one. I would like it if we could put in rating systems in custom databases, like in the game reviews or movie reviews etc. database. If I could put that in any database, it would be a lot cooler.

Bah! You're a fool! I agree with you though; the 7th Column must be updated before Halo 2 releases. At least a week. That's how long it took me to adjust to the new B.net. • Well besides a time frame to learn things. Maybe we should poke around with what features we would like to see added...

 •
Posted by: Poocho If we're judging by how long it'll take people to get used to the site, well, I still haven't gotten used to the new b.net. I still feel like wanting to use my hands to push everything out of the way. But the removal of the big Bungie thing in the corner was a good improvement. But I feel they should give it to us extra early, not only so we can get used to it, but so they can react to our feedback and change things by the time the influx arrives. If most new members check the site out in the first couple of days after the game is launched, and Bungie is still scrambling to make all the changes we'll inevitably ask for, many will likely be turned off by whatever problems there'll be and won't bother coming back. It's not that I don't have faith in Bungie's abilities, I'm just being realistic. They did an excellent job updating b.net, but it took them a week or so to remove some of the bigger turnoffs for us. Just my thoughts, Poocho :)
Oh, he brings up a pretty good point that I didn't think of. Well I take back what I said and say at least 2 weeks now. I think that should be good. Should...

 • It doesn't take all that long to get used to everything. You learn something everyday, though. Getting used to and knowing everything are 2 different things, I say at least a week in advance to get used to.

 • Well, hopefully the new site would make the hacks redundant. :) - Reiginko

 • I was thinking more along the lines of running a chapter and stuff, you know what I mean now? Suhc as getting all the little hacks and stuff to work....

 • I don't think it should take much longer than it has taken to become accustomed to the new b.net main site. - Reiginko

 • If not just one week. It was really hard getting used to the way the 7th Column worked back when I first joined, think how hard it would be for new founders to have to use the old system and go directly to a new one?

 • I agree completely, Heinous. At least a couple of weeks early would be nice.

 • Something else about the updates that I think is important is that if they are to occur they should occur well in advance of Halo 2's release. I don't say this because I'm a greedy little fanboy trying to get things as soon as possible. Instead I think it's essential that the 7th column update be given out early so that current members can accustom themselves with the changes before the massive influx of new fans. No prophet is necessary to foresee the flood of newbies. Well adjusted veterans accustomed to the new systems would be the ideal for helping with the development of the masses to come.
