We should be able to change our names to whatever, whenever

I think it would work out okay. If a mod sees a name that's bad, he can send a warning message saying to change the name within 24 hours or have a 3 day ban. Let's say...SonicJohn changes his name to Sarsion (which he already said that he would if he could)...now some people won't recognize him. Not a problem. Somewhere near the username would be a down arrow that you can click on and it shows you the names that said user has gone by in the past. Web team...I hope you see this. If you guys haven't implemented this...please do. Whatever you guys produce for Bungie.next I know will be awesome...but this will greatly add onto the awesome sauce. So...yay or nay? Why?

However being able to change name as often as you wanted really seems like a bad idea. It can be frustrating, heck anyone outside your friend group is essentially unknown if they actually change their name even just every few months. Feels like it'd be causing more issues than solving the one.

  • This would be a good addition.

  • Nah, I don't want people seeing my fail username. • That idea is bad. It absolutely ruins the incentive for investment in a single account/identity.

  • It's a slippery slope. First it's that then there's custom avatars and and next thing you know it's 4chan-esqe anarchy.

  • You can always use coup to change up your name to whatever you want. As long as there is an option to do so I don't mind not being able to change the actual b.net username.
